I'd like to be able to light my models better when I'm photographing them and was thinking about building a simple lightbox. Could anyone tell me if these would be suitable as the lights? They are LED's and so the light is quite white, but I'm wondering if this can be dealt with by managing my white balance settings within the camera and photoshop. The lights I have posted would be very convenient for me since the light box will need to be portable and so I can't really use mains powered lights. Failing those lights, would reading lights be better? By that I mean the posable lights that you clip onto the side of your book.

They should work but you will have to place them closer to the subject than with some other lights. DIY Photography.com has a good article on using LED lights that is worth checking out.
