Well, good DE units are the following

10 Warriors w/ dark lance (x2)

10 Wyches w/ wych weapons incl. Succubus w/ agonizer, trophy rack
Raider

Archon w/ splinter pistol, agonizer, plasma grenades, shadow field, combat drugs

Ravager w/ dark lance (x3) or disintegrator (x3)

10 Warriors w/ blaster, splinter cannon, incl. Sybarite w/ agonizer
Raider

5 Warriors w/ dark lance (x1)
Raider

I personally love Incubi. Best terminator killers in the game.
All that other stuff is good.
Warriors, Wyches, Raiders, Ravagers... I've also used Jetbikes very effectively. I don't use the talos much, but I've heard of people doing amazingly well with 3 of them. (personally, I'd run with 3 Ravagers instead.) Scourges are nice, but currently way too expensive.

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.
By the time they scream... It's too late.

Favourite tactic so far is to rush their leader units with incubi, hit the tanks with scourges and plow as many jetbikes and raiders carrying wyches into their lines as you can and coventrate them....

Goblet of Spite is crap. Wyches hit most people (well.. people with WS <4.. so that's actually a minority, since EVERYONE plays marines) on 3's anyways, and if you roll the +1 WS drug and make the enemy hit you on 5's, you're going to be hating that Goblet.

Tormentor helm isn't needed unless you're wielding a punisher or hellglaive. Every other weapon is 1-handed, so your other hand should have a splinter pistol. 4 points cheaper. I suppose you could also run an Archon with Agonizer, Poisoned Blades and Tormentor helm. You won't get the extra attack for the poison, but the helm will aid the Agonizer.

No drugs on anyone but the ICs! Far too expensive otherwise.

Wuestenfux had all the right units, with the exception of adding 2x blasters (or shredders if fighting Orcs) to the Wych squads.

Here's my favourite tactic:

Take a min Raider squad and add a Dark Lance.
Take the mandatory Raider for said squad.
Take a min Warrior Squad and add 2 Splinter Cannon, 2 Blasters and a Sybarite with some sort of close combat shenanigans.

In the deployment phase put the Raider squad NEAR the Raider but not in it. Put the Warrior squad near the Raider.

On turn one embark the Warrior squad onto said Raider and then go flying about with a beastly (for DE) Gunship.
The Raider Squad can now be more like a sniper squad, popping transports and the like.

Good idea..... havin a squad of wyches in night fighting is fun they tiptoed up to a guard heavy weapon team and chopped them up before they could fire

Vehicles
Raiders
Ravagers

The upgrades for these units are debatable but lots of ways to go.

Goblet of Spite is -AMAZING- the new rulebook Faq limits its effects to DE army only.

The Talos, IMO, is a "leave at home" at a tourney unit. And a "yeah, maybe sometimes" unit in friendly games, when I dont want to run all 3 ravagers.

I'm actually building a wych cult centered around Lelith.

Wych cults get wyches as troops, so at 2000 points I'll be running 40 wyches as troops (each with a raider & maxing out on blasters) along with 9 in a raider with Lelith for a wych unit that I can pick combat drugs for!

Throw in a couple raider squads and ravangers and all of a sudden I have 13 dark lances, 12 blasters, 50 fleeting wyches, and 8 raiders 3 ravangers to deal with. You get first turn? That's fine, I'll just start everything in reserve.

Some exellent plans on here....

Playing 1000pts planetstrike could be the biggest laugh though, with 30 odd incubi and a lord + scourges dropping on your head or defending, even terminators would struggle i think

goblet of spite lets you hit on a 3+ if a vehicle moves 12ft you'd normally hit on a 6+....so basically haywires will hit on a 3+ and rip a vehicle apart.

tormentor helm adds another attack ontop of your extra attack for 2 CCW poisoned blades +agoniser is slowed... you can only use one at a time.

Vs vehicles without a WS (non-dreads), the goblet does not work.

Tormentor helm isn't worded like Eldar powerblades, so you'd only benefit from 1 extra attack, not 2.

And having an agonizer/poison blades combo lets you use the agonizer for marines/wraithlords/etc.. .and poison for orcs/guard/things with low armor.

Goblet of Spite is -AMAZING- the new rulebook Faq limits its effects to DE army only.

Works only for the model that carries it.

Infantry
Warriors, Wyches, Incubi

Vehicles
Raiders, Ravagers

Exactly.
These are the units you want in a competitive DE army.

Grotesques are funny too.
Take an Haemonculus leading 9 Grotesques and mount this unit into a Raider.
Fly with full speed, 24'', towards the enemy.
The enemy will be so scared that she will shoot down the Raider.
Your precious unit will survive this crash.
Then the enemy, a stupid Tau, SM, or Necron player, sorry, will target the Grotesques by her standard rapid fire weapons (bolters, etc.).
The Grotesques don't care about this shooting and will charge the enemy next turn.

I like the sound of that.....

While were here what does anyone think to the idea of using warp spider models instead of the DE scourges as for my liking the scourges look a bit underpowered for a bloodthirsty anti tank unit.....

Team you Archon up with a Raider squad (not a retinue) and watch him....

Move 12" in the Raider, disembark 2", Fleet, charge 12" with Combat Drugs.

The expression on your opponent's face when your HQ moves 27" - 32" in one turn is priceless.

In former days, I gave my Archon a skyboard.
While Hellions cannot FoF, the Archon could.
This allowed a similar charge range.
What I heard is that the Archon is no longer allowed to FoF on a skyboard, see FAQ's.
