The first time I ever picked up a brush and attempted these minatures was the day I joined Dakka Dakka (6.27.09) So quoting Robin Hood Men in tights, "Perhaps if you gave me the bad news in a good way it won't seem so bad."
Be honest but not mean...not that I can stop anyone but I will kill cute animals in retaliation!!!
These were painted subsquently that month.

Ok since then I have purchased alot of orks, paint, brushes. I also spent a great time reading this forums and attempting to use what I have learned. All the above pics will be updated with what I think will be a final result.
The scheme I have decided on my orks is a silver / black ork Goff theme. I am also going for yellow eyes. All help / tip / ideas appreciated no matter how brutal but remember cute animal life is at steak...hehe...steak....

What you have pics for looks very decent. The bike in particular looks best (although I don't go for extreme highlighting, looks good all the same).
Battle wagon looks pretty good as well. And as I just learned, red paint makes it go faster! (im seriously still laughing about that rule).
Keep up the good work.
If I give you a cookie, will you go away? If I give you the bag, will you go far, far away?

OOT = Out of Time?
If that is the case nah. I wanted to make a tron bike because my Tau friend got pissed off at them and called them F*ing Tron Bikes. Keep in mind I suck at painting and those were the second things I attempted to paint. I know how to highlight "a little better" then that. I have not gone back to that back but I will clean the edges making them alot thinner. I will also be employing a lighting technique to give it a blue glow.

After playing the weird boy a few times with some success decided he finally earned his right to be painted. Going to be painting the three grots next to him three seperate bright colors. Blazing Orange , Liche Purple, Ice Blue since a friend said it would be entertaining. Will see...
Still havnt decided on what scheme to use on the ork boyz or add to the ones I already posted up. Did complete chopping their weaposn arms and wrists up though. So the AOBR I have are nearly all far from what they started out as in the box set.

I think the plain yellow in the eyes depersonalises the orks. Adding a black pupil to the eyes (making sure they are symetrical so they don't look cross-eyed or crazy) will bring life and character to your boyz.
Not that shabby at all. One negative comment: whenever you paint large flat surfaces it isn't applied very evenly. Positive comment: all your gems or goggles or little shiny glass things are amazing.

Some decent work so far.
A thought or two on the Hammerhead: Maybe a plate or two of plasticard for "Proppa Orky Enjuneerin"?
An I echo the above two comments on the eyes and large painted surfaces:
the black pupil would likely work great, and to the paint, just thin it down a tad and dont be afraid to add a second coat if it didnt cover right the first time. Better to have multiple thin coats of paint than one thick one.

Thank you and I will lighten the paint up and try that. I see where it is uneven. At first glance I didnt notice it but staring at it more carfefully as it dries I can see it well now.

Plasticard hmm good idea will go pick some up. Honostly I am afraid of it. Just got over the fear of GS and working with it slowly.
Yeah I just recently started watering my paints...ie today. At first it seems a lil disheartening trying to get the right consistency. Seems like I am washing instead of painting. Will finish up the weird boy with this and go back to the other models. Many thanks for all the advice keep em coming.
As for my ork boyz leaving the pants black and undershirt black look good but I feel empty about it. Any way I can highlight them to appear as black clothing instead of being primed black?

I've been painting black leather on the lads lately, and I've found a few good colors that help with highlighting.
First: I've found a coat of black over primer is essential. Most black primers dry a little light for my taste, so a basecoat of a true black gives a solid color to highlight up from. In other words, don't be lazy!
Next: Pick a highlight tone that works with your scheme. I'm going for worn leather look, so I start with black and highlight with a brown. I know it sounds heinous, but bear in mind I'm not merely slapping snakebite leather or bubonic brown on as a highlight. My first highlight is generally 1:4 Dark Flesh to Chaos Black. Final (extreme) highlights are closer to 1:1, but only sparingly placed on the models. This gives a look very similar to some of my own personal riding gear, which was my goal from the get go. This also serves to tie my troops in with my vehicles, as I use Dark Flesh as the backing for weathering and paint chips.
If that's a bit far out for you, go with gray. Always a good highlight for black gear, trousers, etc. Vallejo makes a color appropriately named Black Gray, yes you read that right, and it's a great initial highlight for black cloth. It dries to a perfect "just caught the light" black shade. A final highlight of Basalt or Neutral Gray will top it off nicely.
And kudos on repositioning the AoBR boys, breaking up those static poses makes a huge difference in tabletop appearance! Keep going!

Thank you kindly sir. I have just started employing this in my repainting / touchups / highlights. It is working well. Keep the advice coming please.

It looks great, the metal effects look great, and all of the shiny details look crisp. I like the rainbow grots, they kind of work, but really now we all know green is best. And if your still looking for a paint scheme, i like kommando khaki shirts and shadow grey pants with vermin brown straps and scorched brown boots, it just looks right to me, but fair warnings it orks in jeans.
Edit: Btw the tron effect worked, when i saw that i immediately thought tron.

Agreed, Orc Green is where it is at. The Rainbow grots are a Weird boy thing I was debating on making it seem like it was war painted on. As for the painting scheme great idea I have to put in an order of paint I will try your scheme with another that was suggested to me this week and post them both up. I have yet to find one that satisfies me. But both ideas I recieved this week I know will work well since it is better then what I had in mind.
Thank you again and keep 'em coming.

Heh working on them right now. Taking a break to let hands rest. That last line I am still laughing. I can't honostly imagine what a weird boy is like fluff etc...If Orks are crazy mofo's who thirst for battle, like bright colors and collect teef...what in the nine hells does a weird boy truly enjoy?

Being left alone and staying away from battle... fluff wise regular wierdboyz are kind of wimps, they do awesome stuff, but theyd rather run away than stay and fight...

Actually, the weirdboys in the old fluff were reluctant to get near too much battle due to seeing other weirdboys heads exploding. The weirdboys as they are written up now are kind of grouchy antisocial old bastards with far too much thinking going on, they creep the other orks out due to their unnatural level of intellect.

Hmm...Trying to think how I can implement it through colors or modifications. More decayed clothing / skin ie rustier chains etc...Or you think they would be more cleanlier? Then again whats a clean ork?

Model him a hood from greenstuff or some crazy squig dredlocks and a top hat like a voodoo witchdoctor. Paint his eyes, especially the big one a different colour to the other orks and really make sure they glow... hang on, paint that mutha up like the Spirit of Jazz from Mighty Boosh!
