Alright, so like so many others I was bitten by the Space Hulk bug. After opening the box - and what a great looking box full of stuff it is! - I was seized with the urge to paint up the models, and so this Plog was born.

The marines are great sculpts, but they were a bear to paint - I admit I'm in no hurry to start a marine project again in the near future. That being said, they're done, and here are the pics:









The genestealers are next - let me know what you think.

very nice. what combo of colors did you use on the marines?

I cheated a bit on the marines - no basecoat. I drybrushed the model with scab red, then washed it with badab black. Blood red was next, followed by blazing orange highlights. Nothing too crazy really, but they took forever to paint anyway because of the maddening amount of detail on the models.

The Tyranids are good but the marines are excellent.

How did you do the gold and red?

Great painting and pictures!

The red is scab red base, washed black, blood red over all the surfaces next, then a light blazing orange highlight on the edges.

The gold is shining gold, washed w/ devlan mud, and highlighted with burnished gold.

Sure hope that trio is on overwatch!

Great job, I really like the pic of the stealers surrounding the termies too. Thanks for sharing!

The nids were pretty easy - it may inspire me to do a whole army of them. I drybrushed regal blue over the base blue plastic, then highlighted with regal blue/skull white. The skin is liche purple, highlighted with purple/white, and details picked out w/ 1purple/3white. Yellow eyes, grey claws, and tin bitz bases. Easy and not bad looking I think.
