The land of cotton.

So one of the FLGS is run by a nice guy and former GW associate. He's taken his experience and created a very nice gaming and hobby experience (the only way I could improve on the store would be to have topless waitresses serving pizza and beer but I hear that's not likely). So we're chatting it up discussing GW, tournaments, the rules and all that. On the subject of GW's recent tournament support decisions including canceling Gamesdays, spotty FAQ release schedules and the likes he summed it up this way:

"Some people look at GW like Darth Vader in Star Wars. In truth it's a lot more like Spaceballs."

I'm trying to figure out who this might have been, as I don't remember if D**** was ex-GW, but I'm leaning towards attributing this to K***** (Names mostly concealed to protect the innocent). Would I happen to be in the ballpark on that one?

I wouldn't doubt it. Invisioning them as more goofy than evil makes me feel better. The ole': "It's okay, he doesn't know any better. He is a re tard."

Them and He = GW, not your ex-associate friend (for clarification)

This isn't really new, it's just that it's easier to hate something when you demonize it. GW isn't out to screw you, they really think they are doing what is best for the hobby. Their views are just different from what some of ours may be, but it's their game, and we keep playing it, so they must be doing something right.

Unfortunately this includes the strange philosophy that good, tight rules are not necessary for a game.

So if they're Spaceballs who's Lord Helmet? And more importantly, which one is the bearded lady?

Also what's the suck radius of Megamaid? Does it use regular Suck Plates or the Apocalypse Massive Suck Plates? Inquiring (or is it inquisiting?) minds want to know!

The only thing you really lost were custom demon princes.. and siren (but luckily that was replaced by Lash)

Lets see.. better berserkers (world eaters), better plague marines. relatively the same noise marines and id say better thousand sons even if they still arent very good!. Better oblits, better terminators, better CSM squads. Okay we get it the major thing lost was "flavor" whatever that means but the codex is BETTER even if it looks bland. If people are crying cause of Iron warriors or demon bombs then let me direct you to an empty river bed so you can fill it with your tears

The above armies were 10x more bland than plague marine/lash armies

re CSM 3.5 vs 4.0

We lost fluff and flavour, which, to many gamers, are just as, if not more, important than the sheer effectiveness of units.

lower your expectations.. consider GW like a sport team.. If your team does its job and wins then you congratulate them. Even though they did what they were payed to do.

If it's like spaceballs, then everyone at GW HQ is called 'Ass hole'. Although tbh, that would explain a lot.

If GW were a sports team we'd be sorted, just find some arab oil hedge fund managers to buy them, and then buy all the best players...
