I ask this because I have been told that all orks are either one of the six klans or a freebooter. I recently re-read my codex and it said "The six most common Klans are...." I understand it's easy to make your own tribe and/or warband, and that the tribe/warband can have any or all of the six klans in them.
I want to know though, would it be bad fluff to make a 7th (non freebooter) klan.
My idea is a a klan called Junka's
Colors: leather and black, lots of bare metal all very rusty. Engines are chromed and shiny (think rat rods)
These orks have an obsession with scrap junk, which the meks take far too much delight in creating madmax/junkyard wars machines of mayham. Every piece of skrap is valuable to a Junka, so thier shops and dwellings are a disterous mountain of squaller (even for an ork). Junka's love to show off their new cobled together weapons and armour, and they tend to do so best in a fight. Metal weapons and armour is rarely panted, as it is seen as a waste of time. They have far better things to do then paint, like cobbling together a newer, bigger ax with more blades and spinny bits.

Junkas tend to have a wide range of forces, and no one unit type seems to dominate thier forces. Only kommandos are nearly unheard of. Junkas throw everything they have at their opponents in a massive effort to hoard more junk. With the abbundace of scrap though, there tends to be an abbundace of vehicles, large and small. After all, when junka's go to war they want to take as much of their junk with them, and they need large vehicles to carry back every last bit they can scour from the battlefield.

Klans are really more like bloodlines than anything. They're connected by a common theme, and some common colors, but they're not really united in any way from that point.

"Tribes", "Warbands", and "Empires (in some cases)" are the actual ork factions. They will sometimes be very strongly associated with a Klan, but are more likely to have some loose associations and a lot of their own culture. Some have become so far removed from their original Klan they no longer display any real association with it, and some are formed from multiple Klans (and will likely take on traits of both).

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I like the idea of the Junkas

There are many klans, warbands, tribes, and other gatherings of Orks.

BlackSpike leads the Evil Moonz, a Bad Moon off-shoot klan that spends all their teef on fast vehicles and red paint
As BlackSpike's warforce is composed of the remnants of his Epic Waaagh (I used to play epic scale, with all 6 klans, back in the day, and am now re-building it with 40k! ), most klans are represented (apart from da smelly Goffs!)

The Big Six klans are just the most numerous across the Galaxy, but there are many others around. Some are off-shoots (like the Kult Of Speed, and the Evil Moonz), others are very similar to existing klans (Da Junkas sound a bit like Deff Skulls, lootin', nickin' an' re-buildin')

So, overall, nothing wrong with building your own klan! If you've got a theme, a story and a paint-scheme, go for it!
It's a big Galaxy out there! Plenty of room for some more klans!

I refuse to enter a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
