They are big and look great when painted well.
Opponents tend to love them.

What's the best ways to kill them?

My favorite way to kill a Monolith is with the first lascannon shot of the game.

Godhammer pattern land raiders.

Or other lascannons. Or Dread CC attacks, if your opponent is blind/tactically inept

I like the Lascannon idea. I mean the 'lith is a massive target, how can you NOT hit it? (and like there's anything else that makes a good target for a lasscannon?) as for your meltas, turn those on the warriors for instakills.

Mostly I'd agree with going for Phase Out, but if you absolutely positively need it dead, lascannons are just an okay option. There are better choices. They all happen to be blasts of some kind too, which takes the monolith's size into account. You're less likely to scatter off that monstrous thing.

Vindicator: S10, plus you get the highest of two dice. AP2 means it's not the best chance of killing it, but it's the most reliable penetration you can drum up.

Vortex of Doom (On a terminator Libby): You won't get the two dice, but AP1 means that any pens are going to hurt.

Orbital Bombardment: Ordinance and AP1 get the best of both worlds, but 1-shot and it's inaccuracy make it the least reliable option, if the most devastating.

It should be pointed out that all these options are wonderful against Necrons of any flavor, even sans Monolith. Packing weapons capable of insta-killing immortals will make any necron player nervous.

Lysander if you can get him into combat with it.
Dreads of all kinds if you can get into combat with it.

Range:
Vindi is decent.
Lascannons of all types 'Can'.
Even meltas 'can', needing a 6 sucks, but AP1 can slap them silly when you do roll those 6's.
Conversion Beamer at >48" away.
Libby Vortex of doom.

Phase out is prob. easier.

My 7 Cents.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I've seen this happening. Hello Eric.

Vindicators can do it quite easily.

I tend to ignore this d*** thing and go for the phase out.

Don't forget that MMs don't get two dice to pen. Neither do Ordnance weapons. Your Lascannons on the Godhammer are probably your best bet.

Why do people say dreads? S8 needs a 6 to glance.

Dreads are not str 8 with the DCCW.
THey actually hit and armor pen well enough. The only issue is getting there.

Even if you roll a 7 for scatter, it's likely to still hit since the Monolith is a ~6.1" square.
Meh, to phase out, as a marine player if you ignore my AP1/AP3 blast you'll have a bad day.

Assault cannons have a higher probability of killing a Monolith than a Las Cannon.

Ask that from my single Lascannon wielding Tactical Marine. He has yet to hit a vehicle with his Lascannon
Don't destroy Monoliths. PHASE OUT.
OR if you reaaally have to kill it, spam Lascannons, Demolisher shots and if possible, a straight good old punch from Dreadnought!

Expect that rending has no effect in Monolith due to Living Metal, so with S6 it has no chance even to glance that monster.

If it scatters 7 inches it won't hit Monolith with the hole on it as with S5 it won't do anything...
If it is 6,1 inches that is
