didn't think the math would work out quite so well on this one, so I thought I'd post for general consumption

60 marines-6 dreads, two good HQ choices. Lootas would rip this army apart, but just about anything else this army should be relatively capable of handleing

You got no drop pods, so against Tau, spesh if they had a couple of Hammer Heads and they DO say variety is the spice of life. But other than that who likes spicy food anyway? LOVE IT!

Your range, max, on the entire army, is 24" . . . you move 6" a turn without run. I'd love to see what IG with some artillery could do to this list.
I'd consider more long-ranged weapons/drop-pods to make this work

5 drop pods are 5 points too many.

IG with arty might do some damage on the first turn, or two, but unless they have 9 arty pieces, it most likely won't do enough to stop the army from popping the arty, then setting in to the task of killing of IG.

there are certainly weaknesses to this army, don't get me wrong, but I think the strengths offset the weaknesses vs the majority of opponents you could face.

mainly I was amazed that the math worked out so well.

if you dropped vulkan and a tac squad, however, you COULD feasibly put the entire army in pods with one pod getting a locator beacon. however the first turn DP assault has lost alot of it's sting with the double astropath lists.

LOL, i'm not surprised the math worked, in the 5th ed SM dex there's no point value that doesn't end in a 5 or a 0, making it nice round and easy, i'd be a bit scared if the mah didn't work out exactly LOL

An entire army with a 6"move, 24" shooting range, and no pods....not good.

This list is doomed to fail against any Aircav, Mechdar, Mech tau, any any other sort of mobile list that has ranged shooting. Heck, any list with decent long ranged shooting will outshoot this list, because of it's lack of speed and range.

Also, you have no mobility for your scoring units, so good luck trying to take objetives that are across the table from you....not gonna happen against any competent general.

Get some pods for your dreads and some transports for at least a couple of tac squads. Also, if you are running Vulcan, then MM+HF Speeders are almost mandatory as they become crazy effecient for their points.

Three drop pods. Two with drednoughts and one with a tactical squad.

Load up on the melta-weaponary more-so, combi-meltas and such. With that many marines and bolter fire, a couple of flamers wont be missed.

Get a scout squad with a rocket launcher, camo cloaks and get the MotF a conversion beamer.

Drop one tactical squad to make room.

Job done.
