Alright so I played and ork player with that thraka dude and during his 2 turn waaagh he had a 2+ invulnerable save...Did the player cheat, if not how the hell do I kill that thing?

Your opponent did not cheat, Ghazgkull really has a 2+ invulnerable save during the turn he waaaghs and the following player turn. And yes, for that time, he is near unstoppable! Interestingly, a Grey Knight with a Psycannon would be the best thing to kill him, because it ignores invuln saves and Ghazgkull has no normal saves for those turns. Apart from that...well, yeah, he's on a rampage.

The 2+ is only invul for the turn he declares the waaagh, and the next player turn I believe (as in, he declares it on his, it's invul until the end of your turn). Then it's just his normal 2+ armor save.

I'd recommend firing a huge amount of firepower at him. Then again, I believe in the three tenets of war. Firepower, more firepower, and yet more firepower.

How do I roll?

When he launches Waagh, just try to ignore him for a turn..cause 2+ inv and 4 wounds means he won't die easily, but when his 2++ ends, just shoot him with plasma, lascannons etc.
Just don't try to out-melee him. Only C'Tan is apable of takinh his rage, anything else from Carnifex to Terminators will be chomped good

Ghazzy is hand-down, for a single turn, the killiest thing in 40k.

On all other turns, he's just the killiest thing in the codex.

Try to ignore him. Slow him down with sacrificial units. Run (you play Eldar, yes?). Hit him with so much dakka he can't make all the saves.

I'd reccomend option two or three.

Ignore him? its impossible.
Slow him down? with eldar that will cost you alot of points to slow him down a little.

Being an ex ork player, i used to run him in all my games.
Against someone who hasnt fought him much, he is allmost impossible to kill, but against weathered players, he isnt too bad atall

Your an eldar player right?
If so, a large unit of banshees is all it will take.
Orks love combat, so play them at thier own game.
Run your usual army but with a large unit of banshees.
Let them take the 1st turn if possible as they will move forward as far as they can.
In your turn move the banshees 6" towards ghaz, in your shooting turn use fleet of foot to get another 1"-6" closer, then assault him in the assault phase.
Banshees will strike 1st, shouldnt have any problems hitting or wounding with that amount of attacks, and since they have power weapons he gets no save

Key points: Charge him with the banshees, dont let them get charged.

Dont leave them in the open, they will get shot as they are a massive threat.

Get to him as quick as possible and prevent him from getting a 2nd turn so he cant use his waaagh! move.

Ghaz will normally be attached to a squad, so there is no way you can single him out with shooting, unless you are talking about throwing templates.

You could try to take him in Close Combat with some kind of power weapon (AFTER he Waaaghs, that parts important!) Failing that, to quote Rory, Vindicators

If your playing Eldar, may I suggest mind war, this power can stack up 5 wounds and you can single him out. Eldrich storm is good for thinning slugga/shoota boyz as well.

Or Howling banshees, power weapons + I5 (I6 for exarch) 3 attacks on the charge you will most likely kill him (yes, I have done this).

If it's not his waagh turn hit him with a full unit of fire dragons after bladestorming his squad to death.

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

Or assault terminators with lightning claws. But a veteran ork player will make sure he activates his waaagh before he gets into combat.
So well, it boils down to your positioning and execution. Just make sure you are the one charging him when he gets near (though that can be very tough, since he will be 18 inches away almost everytime on the turn before he charges).

Step 1. Play Dark Eldar
Step 2. Use Leilith
Step 3. Laugh heartily as you tie up his CC machine in CC indefinatly with your 90 point CC machine.

But really, Tarpit him untill it wears off or Get him first turn, The only time ive played against him I had him in assault turn 1 with LC terminators and a chaplain. He cant call his waagh the first turn, so thats your best chance if you dont want the rest of the orks moving the 6" aswell.

I play: - 2000pt
Deathwing - 12-1500 pts and counting

Throwing templates? Unless you spam all your templates on one spot but that is such a waste unless they are strong enough to kill everything outright. Everyone is saying take this uber weapon, waste AT on him. He will be in a meat shield unit so targeting him will be next to impossible. If you are playing a foot eldar army good luck, but if you are playing mech just duck and weave with your transports till his 2+ s done. When, that is finished just blade storm his unit off the table then let him let him have it. If you use two Avenger units or one Avenger unit with supporting fire from three war walker spam will take care of him quickly then.

But to make a long story, short. Evade and fire once the 2+ is done. Just ignore him.

the problem with this is that Gazzys Waaaagh can be called at ANY time, (even during your turn) so he could wait untill he sees that you have 10 power weapon wounds on him, then call the waaaagh to make his same 2++, and still have the fearless, good armor save, and 6" run move with fleet next turn.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery.
