I think the wolf looks nothing like a wolf should look anatomically. It is too.... I dunno... fluffy I guess. Like riding a giant snarling poodle.

Have to agree with that, though from a comedy standpoint it certainly does its job.

I personally think the snout is too short. It would be more menacing with a more wolf-like snout IMO.

Eh. Looks too Fantasy. 40k has always struck me as dealing with gritty realism (erm, orks aside-- although they've been less silly these past two editions).

Leave the goofy sh- stuff to WHFB. Really, who rides a wolf when you could have a motorcycle?

I think I'll model them as Winged Terminators (for counts as SW Blood Angels) or something...not a fan of the model.

I don't have a problem with it not looking like a gray wolf, but I wish it was more menacing looking.

Ok, where to start off here
Its a fething giant wolf in space, on a very different planet from this one, so of course it will be different.
It would have had to adapt to the habbitat of the planet to start with, which can easily enough cause a distinction in its looks.
Also, since you want to talk about anatomically correct creatures, lets look at a winged tyrant
For its size and weight the wings would have to be atleast twice the size of the FW ones.
Its bones would have to be hollow to help in this.
It would also have to have a much larger chest section so it could incorperate larger lungs built for flight

So, on that note, this is 40k, not animal planet

The model looks ace, however, i do have 2 problems with it.

1: The rider, it looks like gak and needs to be changed quickly.

2: Its face looks too silly and cute, i may buy one to convert and resculpt its head to look alot more dangerous.

I dunno about you guys. I messed my pants when I saw the model. Cute or Not, I'm buying it and painting it.

Mind you, I love Space Wolves, cute and fluffy it's a ploy.

IT'S ATRAP.

Thats not weak sarcasm, thats fact brother, your color scheme(the space wolves, not your skin color ) are difficult for me to look at, all the colors feels like they clash

Actually it almost looks more like he's riding a bear, which to tell the truth is kinda epic.

Cyber wolf would have been better.
Hell, the forge world conversion of a Old Juggernaught mount is crazy better.

My 7 Cents.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I guess if you paint a fair bit of blood on the wolf itself it might look a little better. At the moment though it looks like he just had it washed and is on a nice short walk back from the supermarket >_>

Got to disagree with you here JD. It's regarded as a wolf; therefore it has to retain certain characteristics of said creature. This looks like a shire horse who's been fed with anabolic steroids, then tarred and feathered, and then been given a head transplant with that whasshisname-dumbfuck-hyena-fromTheLionKing-thing.

Also, yes it's 40k, but marines never look good riding anything. Michelin men are designed to stamp around, not ride giant pinatas.

It's still hilarious though. Probably the biggest ''head in my hands'' moment from the last few years. It has that rare distinction of being a model that makes me laugh and cry at the same time, a lot like the plastic Catachans.

How can you mess up a Space Marine?

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

If the mini is has good statistics I shall try and scrstch build one, perhaps I'll even try and model the wolf myself, so if it ends looking horrible I'll be able to sday "Hey, at least I did it" instead of "And I payed loads of moneys for this... sob...".

Perhaps with a less static pose... I mean, he has lightning claws so he'll do the fighting, a more "laning to the side" pose with a lightning claw in a "I'm gonna hit you with this now!" pose would be better.
