I just got through reading Cain's Last Stand and it left me wondering something. Cain notes at the end that Varan's death did not break his mind control over his minions. But why is that? We know from Jurgen's ability to dispel it that it is a psychic power. We also know (from Cain's cadet Donal) that the process does not destroy the mind. So how exactly was the mind control maintained without Varan to keep it there?

In 40K death's sting can be sidestepped in many ways. A psycher's physical death may not preclude his power continuing to echo from the warp for some time.
