The Boarding Plank option for Ork vehicles allows a member of the transported unit on that particular Ork vehicle with Boarding Plank option to make a Close combat attack within 2 inches of the vehicle.

My question is if the attack is made against a unit such as troops or a dreadnought can the troops or dreadnought strike back?

If the troop or dreadnought can strike back which model will they hit, the transported unit or the vehicle?

Thanks

Believe that it's covered either in the description of the boarding plank or the Ork FAQ that a dreadnought cannot swing back at the Ork, and I'm 99% certain that boarding planks only allow attacks against vehicles, not infantry or any other unit type.

No, the attacked unit cannot attack back.

You are correct that the attack from the boarding plank can only affect vehicles. I have the following questions.

1. Can the attack(s) from boarding plank affect Dreadnoughts. Dreadnoughts are classified as a Walker, which is a subset of a Vehicle.

2. How many attack(s) can a model make from a boarding plank?

3. Would the model making attack(s) using the boarding plank count as charging?

1) Yes
2) The Models normal number of attacks.
3) Yes, the Boarding Plank rules even say this.

Addition to this for the consideration of the panel.

If the attacked vehicle then explodes, would the attacking ork, since he's onboard the transport, have to roll a save or just the vehicle he's in test against armour?

Neither. He is not disembarked, but can attack as though he was. And unless you've got some sort of special rule for that vehicle's explosion, you aren't hurting a minimum of AV 10 with a strength 3 hit.

he never leaves the vehicle, so you resolve it as normal, with the assplosion hitting the Transport (unless the asspolsion was so lame it didn't reach )

Yeah, kinda seems counter-intuitive MGS - you would think that since the model is attacking, he would count as being in B2B contact with the target. If the attacker is standing on a boarding plank he shouldn't be classed as being protected by the transporting vehicle's armour, logically.

Oh, and a Warboss w/ Power Klaw could manage that kill, surely?

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Okay, so the male version of "Cougar" is now officially "Albatross".
