Since reading any of the recent threads, in which Battlefoam and the other feller there duked it out over the internets? The amount of people they each brought to the board is great, but not if their going to only post as fanbois for either side. If you bring new people to the board, let em have something usefull to contribute, don't bring em as a gang in wich to scare off people or press your influence. I personally have a BF432 bag, i love it. I use it to hold about 2500 points of SM with room to spare. For my SH needs i use a vallejo plastic box and the original cardboard box. This battle over a boardgames foam is silly, that being said, I belive i will most likely use BF for custom foam cutting.
Why?
Because, simply put, He was here first. His ideas were presented to me a customer, neatly, well orginized and are very high quality. When he presented his ideas(im a FLGS ast mngr) they were well thought out and displayed what he currently could do and his plans for the future.
The other guy, ive not heard much from except for that thread that got locked. Do i think hes a thief? No, would i buy from him? No.
Why?
He's new and has no history or working website, he doesnt have solid plans for the future and seems he started his company after BF. Clearly borrowing his idea, but not improving upon it.

Now do i belive BF has a patent? No., patents take alot of money and a long time to aquire, Romeo might have the money but i don't think enough time has passed to get the patent. He might have applied for one, but as soon as you do, you basically stick your intentions out to the world and say "rip me off until i can sue you"
Speed is not something our goverment does best and that shows everywhere, including the patent office. If he has a patent, we would be able to find it in the database. The database is publically accessible and lots of companies go through it, checking for their own records and looking to improve upon existing patents.

Enough rambling, let me get to my point.
If i was a new customer, or potentially a new customer, after reading these posts on Dakka, i would not buy from BF(or wade? for that matter). Superior products be damned, you need to be able to handle yourself in public. Trash talking is best left for the politicians and your company should sell tself through superior quality and performance. Why any company would get into a fisticuffs match on the internet where everyone can see your transgressions is beyond me. You are the face of your company, on the internet and anything you type can and will be held against you.

Thoughts?

Its a free market out there. Your rep is what sells

If you cant handle a little competition in a professional manner why expect any one to care ?

Oh and BF are not the first company to make this product despite the claim.

Just so were clear, i would prefer if Representives from both of the invlolved parties would refrain from posting in this thread. This is a disscussion between the members of dakka, and even though you guys are members aswell, i ask that you respectfully stay away from the post reply button.

This isnt about whos product was first or whos is better, this is to find out if lashing out on forums will hurt a companies rep in the long run( hopefully for you it wont)

Battlefoam seems to me to be a legit useful business. I do not own any BF products but once I get my army finished I plan to buy BF troop trays.

BF still has great product and great customer service, and that hasn't changed. I have bought from them in the past and continue to do so unless they happen to mess something up big time.

There was a GW foam insert you could get that was for the old style cases , and yes I have one of the old tool kits and it was precut for the tools themselfs.

IB4L, silly foam wars! the other one turned into a flame fest this one will aswell, you can almost hear the mods acoming. as for my opinion of bf, it has not changed as i have never seen bf in the flesh and so have yet to make judgement, the photos however seem pretty positive, my opinion on the product is not in any way linked to my opinion of the company, (which has been lowered a little but not significantly)

I haven't seen BF's patent/patent application for their process. It is entirely possible that they have taken a different approach to precision foam cutting than has been used in the past - simply saying "my tools come in a foam tray!" is neither relevant nor helpful.

I don't think this discussion should continue. These companies have issues between themselves; let's let them sort it out, while we talk about toy soldiers. On the bright side, competition often yields benefit for the consumer.

So call me bland.... i just don't get the hype about battlefoam

I love my army transports, i've never had a figure break in them, its got the same zippers, and set up, and it is cheaper. So what's the appeal of this stuff? I like the ability to pluck out and customize my figure case.

Oh, and its been around a lot longer than Battlefoam. So what am I missing, why do people swear by this? Or is this just the newest stuff out there that people like?
