I'm sure many of you have seen the 'standard' colour scheme of the Tzeentch Greater Daemon (blue/white/gold). Almost every image of this I've seen is those colours. I was thinking of painting mine in a black/purple/blue colourscheme, but after seeing the usual one I'm wondering if it's always meant to be the blue/white colourscheme? (much like how Bloodthirsters are always red/brown).

I guess I'm just wondering if there is a fixed 'canon' colour scheme for this guy, or if anything goes?

In the end, its your mini. If you want to paint a nurgle demon gold with orange and pink highlights, more power to you. So go ahead and paint it how you want.

Perhaps, due to it's bird like nature, researching the colour schemes of birds of paradise and macaws would be a good idea.

Yellow and green were seen more often back in the hippie days of 40K. I think gold is a good replacement for the yellow, but I also think the green is a good complement for most things Tzeentch.

Thanks for the suggestions so far; I'm experimenting with an alternating Warlock Purple/Regal Blue on the wings to see how it looks.

I like the purple black Idea. But I would love to see a "tropical" Lord of Change. Green, orange, yellow, blue ,and red.

You could claim it "Tzeentch, as done by Jimmy Buffett."

Unfortunately, painting it like that would make it even more noticable on the battlefield It may as well have a huge sign saying 'Shoot Me' already It'd be interesting to see one coloured like that though.

I've decided that Regal Blue is way too dark and doesn't stand out at all, so I'm going to try Enchanted Blue next and see if that's any improvement.

I can't seem to find the thread right now, but there was a chap that painted his Chaos Spawn by priming them white and using a couple coats of the new washes. It actually turned out VERY nicely. So nicely in fact that I'm incredibly tempted to make a Tzeentch army using the new washes. Of course other details were added, and if I could find the thread it would be an even better help for you.

My whole point to this is that it may give you some ideas for colours or perhaps how to use them in a manner that would assist in the painting of your Lord of Change

Check out my gallery (Tzeentch icon in my sig) for a few different takes on tzeentch birdies (3 princes, 2 LoC) - You can use any colour you want, as long as it's bright and vibrant and it will look Tzeentchy

If I remember my GW Canon correctly, a lord of change can change color at will...it can be multicolor, pure white, black, green or whatever it wants...I expect it changes color according to mood or design...so that pretty much gives free will...Tzeentch's "colors" are primaries....which means they can mix into anything. Slaanesh are "pastel", which anything can be pastel, Khorne is very rigid, which is befitting his psyche, so he is purely red black brass or combination thereof....Nurgle is simply decay....which can be anything from rich purples and deep black to pale green and yellow....so do whatever you like!

Just don't spray paint your deamon with that damn automoblie paint that changes colors depending on at which angle you are looking at it. There is a Necron/SM Player that did that and his stuff looks like total ! I am not talking about spraying when it is humid but a bear dragged it into the wood, chewed on it and then took a huge on it after eating to much fiber. I have to echo the other people, it is your model and paint it any way you want. A different paint scheme might sound odd on paper but in reality when done well it is a beautiful thing. Good luck on your painting.

Redbeard, thanks for the gallery link- I love the colours you've used.

I don't have any washes at the moment, but I think I'll invest in some for this mini, they seem to have a very noticable effect.

Thanks for the help everyone, should be interesting when it's finally done (painting alternating feathers sucks on a model this large >_&gt

Google Fabrice Tran. His Tzeentch stuff is dope. It precedes the GW washes but is probably easier with the washes. I tried something similar to poor results, but I give up easily.

The traditional colour schemes are:

Khorne: Black iron, brass, blood, and white skulls.
Nurgle: Brown, green, dull yellow for horns
Slaanesh: Pastels
Tzeentch: Electric blue and yellow

I'd suggest a fire-theme, seeing as how Lords of Change are fire-daemons. Something bright and electric, or even in the process of changing from one colour to another could be interesting.

Something I'd love to see is a Lord of Change cut from quartz, with the notion of incarnating itself as a flexible burning crystal.

I agree with nurglitch for once here.
A fire theme may look pretty good.

Just flick up a few pics of phoenixes and go from there.
Once again going with nurglitch (WTF!?) a crystal form is a nice idea, but a tad OTT IMO.
Something like a fire coloured Greater daemon of Tzeentch with an orange / white glowing staff made to look like crystal would look great.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.
