I've had these Studio Miniatures cops painted since before last week, I just haven't gotten around to taking their pictures. These guys came from their Turf War Z Kickstarter. I still have 20 plastic zombies from that KS that I haven't touched yet.

So, we'll start with the cops' star, Harry Callahan.

Yeah, that's totally Dirty Harry. Not my best work with the eyes, but I figured he would benefit from having them actually painted in. It's hard to tell, but he's also carrying brass knuckles in his left hand.

I think this guy was supposed to be an elite or something. Unlike the other officers, he was entirely one piece. I kind of think I should have painted his shirt a different color, just to give him a bit more visual distinction.

Here we have another shield guy. This one looks ready to beat some perps' heads in. There were two distinct body types for the regular officers. One standing still, which this one uses, and one walking forward. So, you'll notice some I didn't take pictures of the backs on, but that's because they're exactly the same.

Here's the other standing guy, armed with a shotgun.

Here's the advancing type. The nightstick on his back was actually a separate piece that I added.

And the other advancing body type. This is not actually a head that came with these figures. To be honest, I'm not even sure where it came from. The head he started with was also bald, but was wearing sunglasses. In my painting space, I have some model kits on a shelf above my painting table. One of those is Bandai's RE-100 Hamma Hamma kit. That damn thing has got to have some of the weakest joints I've ever seen in a Bandai kit. The thing just won't stand up under its own weight and has a habit of constantly falling off the shelf. It's broken its head antennae three times now. Well, after I'd just finished putting on the final coats of paint, the damn thing fell again, only it landed right on the painting table, right onto these figures. This particular guy must've taken the full force of the impact. His paint got mostly chipped off, his arms broke off, and his head went flying. I still haven't found it. I was so pissed off. Thankfully, I was able to repair the damage and found a pretty good replacement head.

All together, minus Harry and the SWAT officers.

As some my have seen from the pictures I'd uploaded to my gallery yesterday, I've been doing a bit of Death Guard work. I got five figures done, with the last finished up today.

One the Pre-Heresy side of things, we have the finished Legion Champion

I'm thinking I'll wind up using him as a Chapter Champion in a Command Squad in regular 40k. I'm waiting on a few orders, but I should have a fully completed Loyalist Death Guard command squad before too long. Hopefully I'll have a tactical squad to go with them in the not too distant future, too.

In addition to him, I've completed my Death Guard Tartaros Terminator Squad as well. Only two figures had remained and I got them finished up Sunday night. I also updated the previous three I'd done to have the new, darker shoulder pauldrons as well.

Here's the squad Sgt.

I may go and try adding a skull insignia to his pauldrons. Depends on how lazy I am.

In addition to them, I also painted the Plague Brethren. Yep, I got my hands on a set of them.

Here's Blight Stalker.

Corpulux

and Dipteron

It feels good to have them all completed. If you can believe it, I still have a bunch more Death Guard left that I haven't painted yet. I have several more plague Marines, an Aspiring Champion, a Biologis Putrifier, a Foul Blightspawn, a Blight Hauler, and a Plagueburst Crawler. I'd still like to get my hands on some Forgeworld Contemptor Dreads for them, too.

I like the cops too.

I can't help but notice not a single gun has had its barrel drilled out...

If you want a somewhat cheaper Nurgley alternative for the dred, I suggest Hitech. They have a very nice looking nurglenaught for about 30 euros or so

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

My Ursarax Cohort is now complete!

I kept their colors mostly in line with my Thallaxii and Domitar, but I also wanted them to be closer to the official Forgeworld colors, so I wound up using a lighter shade of gray, whereas thr Domitar and Thallaxii are closer to being black. Like my other FW Mechanicum units, I wanted to keep the red, black, and brass of Stygies despite not using their colors in the main body of the unit, so I incorporated them into the pauldrons. I also gave all three unique patterns on the right pauldron just for some individuality.

Very nice. Great work on the face plate, first glance I genuinely wondered if that was a translucent plastic insert.

I don't think I've ever seen those models. I continue to be inspired by your lenses-- I wish I could do them half as well.

Wow, that's some high praise from you guys on the visors. They're actually surprisingly easy to do. I mostly use Vallejo paints, so I'm not sure what their GW equivalents are, but the base is Hull Red, which was hit with a Nuln Oil wash, then traced the bottom and right edges of the lense with straight Red, and two dots of Ghost Grey or whatever equivalent to white you normally use. That's it.

Once I get home tonight, I'll post some more pictures. I finished a bunch of Nurglings, a Pox Walker, and a zombie apocalypse survivor. I painted up another loyalist Death Guard Legionnaire for my Command Squad, but I think I may have to wait until tomorrow to get a pic of him using natural lighting.

Okay, got my pictures all edited. I went ahead and took the Death Guard guy's pics in my hall. The light's a bit harsh and washes out some of the paint details, but it's better than using the yellowish lighting in my bedroom.

Here's the only non-GW figure I got finished up. This is a generic survivor from Phalanx Consortium's Skirmish Ragers Kickstarter. I've painted a few other figures from that line, like the Rabbi, Priest, bow hunter survivor, and shotgun cop. For some reason I wound up with two of this particular guy. I'm not sure how I'd like to paint the extra one.

Now, onto thing decidedly more Nurgle, here's a random Pox Walker I picked up and converted. I think I like how they look more with their horns removed.

Now, how about some Nurglings? Since they have no real gameplay use, I decided to leave them off of their respective figures' bases and gave them their own. I can probably use them in some other games, like SOBH.

Here's Sluggo.

Mush

and Kab-Louie

These three are all from the Lord Felthius & Tainted Cohort box. I love the one with the grenade. He looks so happy about blowing himself up. Interestingly, I tried something different with him. He was painted using the new blue Hexwraith paint over a white base, then has Drakenhof Nightshade applied over that. I like the effect it creates.

Then we have a Nurgling I'm calling Ugly-Stick. Watch out that he doesn't beat you with it. He's from the Plague Brethren set.

Finally, we have the Death Guard Veteran Legionnaire that will be joining my Command Squad. I'm very happy with how he came out. I wish the weathering didn't get so washed out by the lights. It looks good in person.

Nice work all round, but loving the nurglings! Good idea to base them individually, shows them off nicely.

I finally got around to taking pics of what I've been working on.

Up first is the first Infinity mini I've painted in a long time, the Morat Rasyat. For when you need to conduct some aggressive diplomacy (Rasyats are Morat "diplomats").

I got the banner bearer/Ancient painted for my command squad. For some reason, I just can't get happy with how his helmet came out.

Then we have a squad of Grymn light infantry from Hasslefree. My plan has always been to use them as Brokkrs in Deadzone, giving that subfaction a somewhat more militaristic feel.

Up first is squad leader Kraggs.

Dagni

Voltan, the only multipart figure in the squad.

Khyli, the female memberr

And Jinso. His skin isn't so yellow as the pic makes it look.

Is that banner all freehand? It looks good.

I thought the Brokkr were more bikers/ miners than militarized guys. Some day we should play Deadzone...

All of the markings on the Death Guard marine and his banner are freehand. The only thing that isn't freehand is the skull on the banner. That's from the generic Space Marine transfer sheet.

As for the Grymn, I had an idea that these are Brokkrs who work as security contractors. So they run security while their buddies strip Deadzones of their resources.

Not the most impressive update today. Just a couple of Epirian Contractors from Maelstrom's Edge.

I'd painted a Contractor earlier. These two are just the other two from the sprue.

I've been looking forward to working on the new AOS Stormcast models, but I've had a queue of figures ahead of them. I wasn't going to let myself work on them before I finished the other stuff. Now that I'm through with those other items, I can get working on the new hotness. I finished the first of my Castigators last night, the Castigator-Prime.

I don't think pictures really convey just how chunky these guys are. The Prime at least is pretty swole. The individual scenic bases are pretty neat as well. The Prime has a fallen book of some kind with pages spilling out.

Castigators are just super swole.

I got the second finished ver the weekend. This time it's the female team member.

I also got my Death Guard conversion parts, so I started working on them. I mostly finished the Legion Centurion last night. I need to hit his bolt pistol with a wash still and paint his insignia on his left shoulder.

I feel like he's just a little too busy looking though. I think I need to redo his aquila details on his chest. Maybe redo the whole chest plate in green? I don't know. Thoughts? Should I just leave him be?

I'll be using him as a Captain, more than likely.

The female archer gun looks nice. Good sculpt.

The DG sculpt looks dated compared to newer stuff, but I like the paint job. If anything, I'd do a little more blacklining work where the colors change from gold to white, rather than adding another color.

So you think it just needs better definition? I can try that. Another problem is the gorget. The brass and the gold really blend into each other. I'll try hitting the edges again with a black wash and see if that helps at all.

I love the chunkiness of that Centurion. He's so bulky!

Once again, house sitting is upon me and that means no painting for about a week. So, I nmade sure to finish up my Castigators and some Death Guard I was painting.

Here's the last of the Easy Build Castigators. The Gryph-Hound still needs to be done, but he'll have to wait.

I completed the first of my Death Guard grunts. You'll note the asymmetric pauldrons. I thought the DG upgrade set used MKIII shoulder pads, but they appear to be MKIV. I was kind of miffed about that. Why did they do MKIV when Death Guard are most well known for MKIII armor?

His bayonet is actually a leftover chainfist blade from the Tartaros set. I think it makes a pretty good bayonet.

Then we have another unit for the Command Squad, the Veteran Sergeant, armed with a power sword and a bolt pistol.

Overall, I'm not sure how I want to approach these helmets. Should I keep the masks gold or white for the regular troops? It feels like something is missing from the trooper's helmet and I can't figure out what it is.

Got some gaming in today with Highlord Tamburlaine, our cousin, and BobtheInquisitor.

First thing's first, Brookhurst Hobbies has a life sized Primaris Marine standee in the restroom in the gaming room. So, BobtheInquisitor requested that I make a meme out of it. Behold!

We got in a pretty lengthy game of Andrea Sfiligoi's Paleo Diet. It's actually a pretty fun game. Surprisingly, I'm the only one who managed to get kills (and killed). I took out one of the two wolves that was prowling the board as well as the primary quarry, an Andrewsarchus, which promptly earned the name Andy Serkis.

As usual, my in-game photos leave much to be desired.

After that game, and lunch, we played a game of Shadespire, which BobtheInquisitor won. For once, I actually didn't lose my entire team and I even got some victory points. Maybe I'm actually getting better at it?

The game was played 2 vs 2 on probably too small of a board. But, I actually had fun with it.

You've put up a lot of painted minis since my last visit here. Your work blows me away as always, especially your lenses and solid colors, like the Gramm's yellow. Yes, yes, high praise from a guy who never paints his minis.

Thank you for posting pictures of the game, and especially the meme.

Your Paleo Diet thinker dwarf was the MVP. Not like that lame Bubo. Poor, dumb Bubo.
