There awesome have always liked the look and attitude, with the new extra abilities for special characters and the oath to fulfill could make some intresting games, ive been into patrol force for a while but i feel an army coming on.

I had previously been tempted to pick them up, but now that I have seen the book I have lost interest. In general, I think there are a lot of good ideas in there, but there were just a few too many stupid things to my liking. The inexplicable nerf to Drop Pod and Land Raider capacity (in an army where they are trying to push characters), the Wolf Priest and the Wolf Guard Battle Leader (when compared with the Rune Priest and Wolf Lord, respectively), and the way they made Blood Claws so lame-looking where the main sticking points for me. Especially the Blood Claws, as they are (in my mind) one of the defining units of the Space Wolves. I also resented how Games Workshop made the big boast about how they would be less Codex than ever before, but they sure as heck look a lot more Codex than they had in their previous book. I am now thinking about picking up Grey Knights instead.

Look and attitude are fine,
but not top tier.

Ive always been a fan, i havent looked at the codex properly yet though, im sure something good could come from them though, they have some intresting characteristics and would make for a nice feral marine army, i think the thing i like the most is the lone wolf idea though, a model seeking death on the field, how many paople are going to want to kill a model theat wants to die? and the fact if he doesnt die as the sw character your victory can get get screwed up lol

I remember a guy reading out every option that was in the new codex, whilst i was trying to play a game, but I digress. Overall, meh, dosen't spark much intrest.

they're what i expected, better than normal marines in general for a lower point cost. while they're not out-and-out broken like the 3rd edition codex was when it came out, they definitely outshine the vanilla marines in almost every category.

I'm holding my opinion until I can get my paws on the new codex. As far as the new models go, I'm VERY happy.

Strangely enough, after holding out on continuing my space wolves army for a while in anticipation of new codex, I just bought 1,500 points of Chaos off of ebay.

Nothing much has really changed for me with Space Wolves, other than two less models in my drop pods. I suppose some of the seats got replaced with mirrors for them to pump iron in front of while waiting to land.

This is the first army since 40k came out where none of the figures have impressed me... Not seen the codex yet so can't comment on that but if I end up doing a force I'll look for the older Wolf figures on e-bay.

It's a well-rounded and very fun army to play. It has good elements and a few poorer elements, but the good definitely outweigh the bad.

They're not better or worse than regular C:SM, just different, however I can make a much more flavorful counts-as Chaos Marine army with the SW codex and it's probably what I"ll keep on doing going forward.

After seeing the sw codex, I find it's what the C:SM could have been.

Wish list:

Take the SW codex and make it "C:SM":

Replace Counter Attack with Combat Tactics

Make Combat Squad a +point cost per model

Replace the HQ choices with the HQ choices in the current C:SM.

Of course there would be some swapping out of units to fit the fluff better, but this is the general idea.

I currently have my entire 13th Company integrated into my Chaos lists. The only things that 'count as' in the list are the Fenrisian wolves, which I use as deamons & the Wulfen which I use as Possesed. Other than that, it all works out pretty close.

People seem to always be playing or bored with an army before its codex is even out! How do people find out the rules?!!! (this thread is almost saying they came out a month ago....)

Well, I'm disappointed that the 13th Co is gone.

The concept to integrate Wolfguard into other units is great,
especially for Long Fangs.
Imagine a pack with 4 or 5 missile launchers and 1 Wolfguard with cyclone. Ouch!

Haven'thad a chance to look over the bok yet, but I got a pack of the plastic Wolf Guard terms, and I have to say I love the details, some of the gear just looks cool. like the belt fed assault cannon. the models looked so good I decided to paint the assault cannon in SW colors. didn't come out that well but I am still glad I pinted it up in wolf colors, can't wait to see what other goodies are coming out for the Wolfs thatI can convert into Vannila marines.
