"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47

I think its about time people started facing the fact that Dark Eldar have gone down the same road as the Squats. They kept promising updates for them before turning round and finally admitting they were not going to do anything with them anymore...

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

I honestly hope your wrong about this,as I would hate to see yet another army (and another group of players) get shafted by GW,of course, nothing GW does would honestly suprise me anymore.

I hope I'm wrong to but when was the last time GW did anything to do with Dark Eldar, even in White Dwarf? It's a case of them thinking that if they aren't mentioned for long enough people will forget about them... (remember this is GW who think that the only sources of info are their own...)

IIRC there was some Dark Eldar rules/info in both Apoc and planet strike (?) (not really sure),but yes your correct that GW is definatly giving DE the "cold shoulder"
It's a shame really, because DE have alot of potential to be very interesting as well as competitive.
Still GW has a record of "sqauting" other interesting armies, LaTD instantly comes to mind.
I suppose all we poor consumers can do is sit and wait while those wise folk at GW decide the fate of yet another army.

I wish they would get rid of Dark eldar just to put them out of their misery. As a stand alone army they make 0 sense because dark eldar only do THREE THINGS

1) Provide a carbon copy of WFB Dark Elves
2) Take slaves
3) Again provide a carbon copy of dark elves

Lets see
Space marines dont become slaves
Necrons cant be slaves
tyranids cant be slaves
orks cant be slaves (grots maybe)
Eldar are on craftworlds.. hard to raid those
Any chaos armies wouldnt be slaves

That basically leads to DE only having relevance if assaulting an imperial guard army or Inquisition with all humans

Hopefully they 100% redo their fluff so they actually make a shred of sense

@Kirasu: Just because the DE can't enslave a majority of the armies doesn't mean they make no sense. They can still enslave general populations. It is really hard to enslave anybody who is in a fighting force including IG, since they generally are ordered to die before surrender.
Also, slavery isn't their only thing. They just go around and cause chaos and pain to appeal Slaaneesh iirc. So they make sense in the general scheme of things. It's just they haven't been updated.

Yes a lightly armored raider force whos primary purpose according to the 1 page of fluff in their codex is to collect slaves

Why the hell would a lightly armored force go up against heavy armored armies in which they could gain no slaves?

Again DE need a totally new focus or they should not even be on the battle field..

Well, DE wouldn't be trying to enslave Space Marines. They'd be trying to enslave Imperial civilians.

Last WD I can think of that had them was when the Black Templars codex got released. I have it sitting around in here. Some tournament player bragged for an article over how his Dark Eldar won a GT or something, then they get beaten by Templars in a battle report.

Enslave? Maybe not. Torture? Absolutely. There's even a story in the codex about a homunculus torturing the crap out of a captured space marine. Had him screaming pretty much immediately.

And you must notice that in any battle report with a newly released army, the newly released army always 'happens' to win. I knew a couple guys who were commissioned to write a battle report for WD. You better believe that GW arbitrates which army is to win. The outcome is known before the game starts and the players just figure out how to make it look exciting and dramatic.

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.
By the time they scream... It's too late.

Just one question, do Dark Eldar even have a BFG force?

Dark Eldar have very little use for RealSpace, so not BFG for them.

DE are not going the way of squats. We're getting a new codex and models; hopefully right after the space pups; but at the very latest, after the one after them.

DE still do reasonably well with a good general. I have a very low loss rate with mine, for instance. Vs most people it usually ends up in a massacre; as (1) most people build anti-marine lists and I don't play marines, and (2) most people play marines and I have an anti-marine list.

I want some variety though. I basicaly just use the same list, very slightly modified for points... and it gets old. I want more options that still results in a competitive list.

But don't get all bent out of shape if your opponent looks disdainfully upon your lack of originality while tabling you in 4 turns because he's got beating SMs down to an exact science after fighting them for hundreds of consecutive games.

That's a negative good buddy. They're really, really far out. Phil Kelly was talking earlier today that he wished he was writing their codex. Jes Goodwin isn't done sculpting their models. I believe they're further out than Necrons. At least Nids are coming in January though.

I just think people tend to underestimate the massive amount of work DE need to be respectable in the hobby

Not even sure how people can identify them as "their" army considering the codex has no fluff and the models are awful

DE are the only race that basically is like creating an ENTIRELY new race

Need to redo virtually every single unit 100%
Have to add pretty much 100% new fluff due to the lack of it
All new models
Barely any player base to buy said new models, said new codex or read said new fluff

I would like DE to come back but from the standpoint of a GW executive I can see virtually no reason to do DE if another race could use a codex .. or models
