Just figured I'd create a thread for general discussion about Dakka's favourite Special/Individual character...

My Favourite Character has to be Prince Yriel - Wounding on 2+ and ignoring saves! *wheres that carnifex...* or Abbadon; could that guy be any less badass?!

My least favourite Special Character is probably Typhus, he's just sooo underwhelming, especially when your 220pts bloke is 'bonked' by a single power fist

My favourite has to be commander shadowsun, epicc modell and i love the stats lol. Also pprince yriel is awesomesss .

my favorite is captain lysander 4 wounds, 2+ Sv, 3+ inv, eternal warrior, conveys stubborn to your whole army, re roll failed to hits with bolt weapons (sternguard ) and finally a str 10 master crafted thunder hammer which is plus one to the damage table. Don't really have a least favorite yet....

My favorite has to be Kharn the Betrayer. He never misses, and he can kill literally anything short of an aircraft.

Least favorite? Pask. So much for so little.

Abaddons my fav, this guys a fkn beast! Everyone hates him. Hes killed marnius calgar in 2 games I've faced him in, tooled the blood ravens main dude, spanked quite a few orc chars, and has killed more than his fair share of 10 man termi squads and space marines.

My least fav? typhus. 225 points for a terminator... seriously, lame!

I like Lysander and Dante, I also used to rather like the old special Tyranids and look forward to seeing them again.

As for least favorite I really dislike Abaddon, he just seems like a mini-me of Horus for no apparent reason, like why is he favoured by all the chaos gods he never seems to achieve much for any of them except Khorne and Tzeentch.

Jack is Jackmojo. He writes that at the end instead of putting it into his sig.

Pask is Knight Commander Pask. He is an upgrade for Imperial Guard Leman Russ', making them more effective, but making even the basic Leman Russ cost more than a Landraider.

Ghaz is my fave, 4 wounds, 7 attacks on the charge, immune to instant death, and when he calls the waaagh he has a 2+ inv for two turns.

least has to be typhus, the mighty hive destroyer gets punched with a st 8 power fist and dies, hilarious.

Least: not really sure but typhus sounds prty bad

My favorite is Lysander. He's a tank, has some solid killing power, but still has enough support abilities (fortify, bolter drill, and stubborn) to keep him from being just another point and click killing machine.

My least favorite is Abaddon - he just bothers me. I have a personal vendetta against anybody who can instant-kill my commander and his entire squad before I get the chance to strike. I also don't like the aforementioned "point and click killing machine" style HQ's. A character who actually supports his army is much cooler in my opinion.

I'd almost have to agree charecters like Abaddon are that cheesy... however a lot of armys have 1, and abaddon does cost a LOT of points.

Some of my friends actually like playing him because they try and kill him with their "uber" unit every game. I think its fun to topple their 600+ point 10 man biker squad, while they think its fun to try and down abby with 10 TH/SS termis when abbys running with 8 zerkers in a LR... lol.

Its all in how you make it. I normally never run a special char in a game unless my opponent announces he is (one guy we play with ALWAYS runs Calgar, so I always run abby when he does). Sometimes I'll run a crappy named guy for fun (Fabius Bile) because its lol when my zerkers charge at str 6

My favourite would definitely be Lysander. He's a tough nut to crack, and he's a downright killing machine when combined with Terminators.

Least favourite would be Abaddon. 13 failed Black Crusades and nobody's replaced him yet? One of the Daemon Primarchs would do a much better job; just look what Angron achieved!

Kharn. His story is the best part of the current CSM codex in my opinion.

Least favourite would have to be any SM character haha.

I too love Ghaz. I used to be totally happy with just a regular warboss. But The couple times Ive used Ghaz, he is a griggin green steam roller. AND his WAAGH! is the tits. Makes him more bad ass and it affects the whole damn army in a GREAT way.



Dont think I have a least. Abaddon I guess, thats more of a personal thing tho. And really he is pretty much just a point and click. I think hes much to overpowered.

Yarrick has served me faithfully, and I am the proud owner of the old "crab claw" 2nd ed version.

Least favorite? Asubial Vect, not his model, or his effectiveness, just how funky, mix matched and confusing his rules are. So let me get this straight, he is a fast, open-topped skimmer, with armor 14 on all sides (only against shooting!) that has a WS value and can make an assault move, (only when it moved less than 12") so theoreticly counts as a walker (can it run?), has 2 BS 6 plasmacannons/Str 4 AP3 guns and a dark lance, seven attacks, a power weapon and some slave girls.
WTF!?

That said, having him on the table is a joy, just to explane exactly what his rules are, or if he dosen't ask, just suprise him, and I will guerntee that you will be asked "lett me see your rulebook" by the end of the game.

Marneus Calgar has to be my favorite, the model is amazing when painted well, not to mention simply amazing stats.

Ghaz all the way favorite. It's lovely when he appears on the table and your opponent groans.

Least favorite Kruellagh, The Vile


mostly because GW painted black spandex and suspenders over her tits!

My favorite in terms of how often they're played are either Sicarious or Eldrad: both are great at making any army they're in better.

Least favorite: well, assuming this means the model that I last favor, not the one I hate the most, I'd probably go with Sgt. Bastonne. I just can't think of a time I'd ever really use him. If it's the one I hate the most it's Nrok Dedogg. They could cut his points in half and I could make a good case for him being over costed.

Deceiver is my favorite, he's simply the most effective 300 point model in the game.

Least favorite is Skarbrand. Ugh!

Favorite(I have a few due to the number of armies I field)- Abaddon(for apoc only), Huron, Dante, Curbolo, Eldrad(a must and even meaner with Yriel or sc)

Least- really hard to say because my favorites and dislikes shift with pt totals.

Yes abby is a beast but he's so expensive you never really see him in a competitive csm army below 2000 pts. He is also one of the few guys that cost that much that can actually kill himself. The best time to use Abaddon is to distract the enemy. Can't say I've ever had any problem with Typhus making the opponent cry. Ahriman is a monster too. Snikrot is pretty good in certain armies. Mephiston is nice. Hhhmm I guess I like alot of the hqs and I don't like any hq who dies before contributing to the game

I can't remember the space marine scout upgrade guy. He's quite amazing for his pt cost.

My favorite character is ... stolen, but that would take some sort of tactical geni... CREEEEEED

In all seriousness he's not available anymore but I liked Schaffer. He's angry, he's powerful and he gives me the possibility of twenty deep striking demo charges in five different locations, which hurt, a lot . Second is pask, in a vanquisher he will just about guarantee a kill on any tank in the game (minus the monolith).
Down under is Bastonne, who just doesn't do much. The best ability he confers to the squad is the ability to always regroup, but you still have to take the leadership test, not very good.

MOST FAVORITE: Game-wise: Marbo. Dirt cheap and at the very LEAST he'll tie up any opponents troops for a turn or two.

Model-wise: Drazhar / Cypher tie. One has blades in each hand, the other has guns in each hand. Double-deuce just LOOKS cool.

LEAST FAVORITE: Game-wise: Bastonne. Never seen him played and in terms of the IG Codex, he's virtually ignored. Why pick him when you got other guys who are WAAAAY better.

Model-wise: Ultramarine Captain Sicarius / Inquisitor Lord Karamazov on the Throne of Judgment. Sicarius just looks plain and Karamazov looks ridonkewlus with the papers and on an open-topped chair with arms. Blegh.
