What is the story behind your regiment?
What is their homeplanet like?
Please, share it with us!

To get started:
My regiment is the Niviran 101st. They are from a backwater Agri-World called Niveria (duh). Niveria supplies the nearby Jedos and Rylos systems, mainly the massive Forge Worlds located there. Interestingly, the 101st is not the result of a single founding. They are in fact refounded every 5 years, as they have done since the days of the Age of Aposty. In those dark times, there were only 3 regiments planetside at the time. The 99th, the 100th and the newly raised 101st. When the Young preist Sebastions Thor led the movement against the Insane Lord Vandire, the youthful 101st were eager to join. They petioned to the planetary Governer that Niveria declare itself free from the insane rule of Vandire. the governer however, whether it was out of fear or some other reason, swiftly delcared the entire regiment heretics. He ordered it's brother regiments to turn on the 101st. Perhaps if the people had helped, if they had been given warning, the 101st may have stood a chance. As it was they were butchered, nearly to a man, on the killing fields of the Solomon Plains. To the survivors, the people shut their doors, fearful of retribution. With no help forthcoming the sorry remnants of the once idealistic 101st could do little against the forces arrayed against them.

However, the 99th and 100th were called up to serve in Vandires force that was to be sent to crush Sebastion Thor. The expedition was a complete failure, and the regiments were assumedly lost in the powerful warp storm know as the The Emperors Storm. It was at this point that the nearby Forge Worlds of Jedos IV and Rylos II joined the supporters of Thor. The people of Niveria had often been described as stubborn however, and the governor was no exception. Instead he remained with the crazed High Lord, refusing to send the vital food supplies so desperately needed on those over-populated worlds, and the food riots alone accounted for more deaths thn the entirety of Niveria several times over. However, support at home was wavering. Weakened as he was by the loss of the 99th and 100th, the governer was now more vulnerable to attack from the 101st remants than ever before. Slowly but surely, the men of the PDF trickled away, some going home like nothing had happened and others eeknig to join the ranks of the 101st. No longer was this a guerilla movement, this was a civil war. If the people had been more willing, less scared of change, then the war may have ended quickly. As it was, the war dragged on for 12 years, long after word had spread of the sieging of the Imperial Palace and Vandires subsequent death and capitualtion.

Hearing of the monstous misery of the starving Forge Worlds St. Apsira investigated with a mission of sisters. With the arrival of the Sororitas, the war swiftly ended and the governor and those loyal to him were executed. The 101st greeted thier arrival with adoration and praise. Yet St. Aspira was disgusted that such a petty conflict, from such a stubborn people, could cause so much misery and death elsewhere. She demanded that as penance for their reluctance in aiding the 101st, every 5 years the people of Niveria would send their sons join the ranks of the 101st. Sick, disabled or otherwise infirm, there are no exceptions.

Every 5 years, the 101st is refounded. Every young man over the age of 17 is to report to the capitol for training and subseuquent shipping out to wherever the rest of the 101st may be in the field. They are armed and supplied by the nearby forgeworlds. They are to serve a compulsory 15 years in the IG before being shipped home to return to their homes and families. When the next founding occurs, these men now have a choice. While most are more than willing to settle down and live a peacefull life on the farmland, there are a few that are beckoned by the call to war, whether out of a sense of duty, a lust for a glorious career, the thirst for battle or the fact that they no longer have a home to return to, these men return to the 101st; for it is only after this compulsory service of 15 yearsthat it is possible to advance through the ranks. That is why all the standing officers will often have decades of active service experience, ensuring that no one young and inexperienced takes up the reigns before their time. They are the ones given the duty of training the new recruits, and will be the sergeants and junior officers of those soldiers.

A curious side affect of such a peculiar form of founding is that Nivieria is a largely matriachial. Males are seen as good for fighting and be-getting children, yet not much else. All positions of importance (or lack thereof) are largely held by females. The planetary governor, judges, scholars or workers in the field are females. The birth of a duaghter is celebrated with much gusto by the women, yet a the birth of a son is secretly mourned. This is not to say that they hold no affection for their sons and husbands, yet they know that it is likely that when their son comes of age they shall never be seen again, and the husbands are often distant, remembering horrors of distant battlefields. For all those that leave, eager and shining with the the excitement of adventure so very few return...

A bit long winded I know, but don't hold back, eh?

Huzzah! A challenge to write yet more fluff for my new regiment. I'll paste this into my P&M blog when I finish.

Asphodel is, economically, a unique planet; both a graveworld and a forgeworld. Imperial tanks, warships, and equipment are often sent here to be broken down and reconstituted. The Mechanicum has a great deal of interest in this world as the great Remanufactoria often dig up a wide variety of rare archeotech in their work; from simple augmetic sensor arrays to ancient and powerful plasma blastguns recovered from wrecked Titans and super-heavy tanks. Age-old agreements with the scions of Mars allow the Remanufactoria to supply Imperial Guard regiments raised on the planet with an array of ancient and powerful weapons so long as they as these relics are not sacred to the Mechanicum or in desperately short supply throughout the Imperium. As such, the sons of Asphodel are organised almost exclusively into armoured and mechanized regiments, their array of vehicles nonstandard but just as effective as newer designs and the infantry well-supplied with specialty weapons and equipment. This abundance of heavy equipment more than makes up for the fact that Asphodel regiments tend to be fewer in number; the immense value of the relics recovered from the planet's surface means that tithes levied on the planet are relatively low with a significant portion of their forces made up of volunteers. As such, these men are highly motivated, having willingly taken the oath to fight in the Emperor's name.

This high proportion of volunteers is partially explained by the aristocratic nature of life on Asphodel. For a man or woman who lacks prospects or doesn't wish to pursue a career in industry, the military offers a different way of life and a means of social advancement.

Very interesting, I especially like the idea of a sort of Junkyard/Forge World.

I'm guessing you have a lot of unique tanks and vehichles such as Vanquishers and Banewolves in your army?

Thank you! I haven't put together any armoured units yet, but in terms of what I have planned you're correct. I plan to keep a few Banewolves handy as well as some fun Russ variants; a trio of Punishers would have the highest pewpew factor of any other heavy support choice in the entire game, but they'd probably take a lot of babysitting. A more practical support choice may be a Vanquisher flanked by two standard Russ variants as they're the only ones that can match its range while retaining some effectiveness against infantry. If you've got any interest in the coming conversions, show my neglected P&M Blog some love. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/258553.page

Ork-Hunting Inquisitorial Xenokiller

The Graven Prime's 13th Light Infantry Regiment is an all volunteer regiment raised on Inquisitor Sanchez's home world of Graven Prime. Over the decades the 13th LIR has absorbed many other Regiments, most notably the 58th Steel Legion and the Catachan XXXV. Technically they are one unit, but the Inquisitor still has them fight individually as their styles of fighting and effectiveness are dampened if forced to fight together. During the 3rd War of Armageddon the 13th LIR picked up the 58th SL and the Catachan XXXV as well as a few survivors from other Steel Legion regiments. During the Eye of Terror Campaign the 13th LIR gained its current leadership of Major Hillsbery and Commissar Andrews from last stand of a trapped Cadian defense. The 13th LIR was able to rescue the survivors and drive off the attackers. During the Medusa V campaign the 13th LIR lost its senior officers and staff. This was the time when then Captain Hillsbery was given command of the 13th LIR and Commissar Andrews was promoted to Senior Commissar for the Regiment. Currently the Regiment has elements of Steel Legion, Catachan, and Cadian among the majority of Graven troops. Artillery and Tank companies have also been attached to further the effectiveness of the regiment, technically no longer making it light infantry, but it is a proud part of their history and so they keep the LIR name.

The 13th LIR follow Inquisitor Sanchez on his Battle Cruiser the 'Imperial Light' on his quest for revenge against the Tau, leaving most the Daemon stuff to be dealt with by the few Grey Knights that accompany the Inquisitor. They have been known to search for and eliminate cults along with some policing of territory, but they shine in combating enemy Xenos and traitors. Supported by expert artillery, mortars, and highly skilled snipers, they are notorious for wreaking havoc on the enemy and leaving the head to head struggle to be dealt with by more suited forces. The Inquisitor has recently acquired a 2nd regiment from his home world, this pure Graven force is known as the 1st Air Cavalry Regiment. Lead by Colonel Diaz de lope Diaz, this regiment and the 13th have a healthy competition between them over their effectiveness of combat.

Graven Prime is a planet covered with great oceans, lush forests, and plentiful farm lands. With sparse urbanization along the coastal regions, most of the industry is in the massive space dock and station in orbit over the planet. Graven Prime is classified as a Paradise World as an attempt to keep the Adeptus Mechanicus out of their system. So on paper it is a sparsely populated Paradise World that pays it's dues as any other Paradise World would, but in reality it is far from true. The massive farm lands feed the whole Graven system along with several other words that neighbor. The reason for the deception is to keep the Adepus Mechanicus out, as their monopoly over technology would strip Graven Prime and her colonies in the system of their machines and tech. Orbiting the planet is a massive station, it completely encircles the planet like the rings on a gas giant. In this massive ring ships are build, repaired, or refitted, trade enters and leaves, troops embark or return, and all of the mining operations
around the system are headquartered there. This Ring is the heart of the Graven system and her people, and if the Adeptus Mechanicus find it, the Graven People with fight to the last man to keep it their own. The system of Graven boasts its own fleet, built over centuries, from ore mined in asteroids, moons, and other planets within the system. The fleet is responcible for the safety of the Graven System, and neighboring Imperial Worlds. All of this is possible due to the inefficiency of the bureaucracy that over sees the sector.

Excellent Exalted Champion of Chaos

Grim Forgotten Nihilist Forest.

The 13th Xavien Regiment.

The one of two currently existing Regiment's on Xavia a world near the realm of Ultramar. The other 12 perished when Hive Fleet Behemoth ravaged the sector.

The Xavien 13th saved their planet. Destroying the Tyranids they fought there. Xavia is a Iceworld from there come hardy and tough soldiers. Most Xavien cities are under their great mountains where flee to during the horrible winter's. They have received massive honors by the Cadian and Vostroyan Regiments for help. Even from Ultramarine's.

Eddy Rosenrot is the current Lord Commisar. He is also in charge of a small developing PDF the Xavien 14th.

The 13h often are called upon to help an inquisitor or to bolster the ranks in other system's. Leaving their planet next to defenseless.

My army is the 4th Gothan Recon Regiment

Their home world was called Gotha but it was claimed by the Tau in the 3rd Expansion and captured. On their retreat from the system the ships were stuck in the warp and the 2nd and 3rd Recon Regiments became possessed and destroyed by Chaos. Now the 4th Gothan always has a contingent of Grey Knight Terminators with it.

This is all I have at the moment since I'm still in the process of actually making the models.

Mine are the elite of Cadia who have been requisitioned by an Inquisitor to aid the Grey Knights when their numbers are too few to fight chaos alone. The Cadians were selected due to their experience with Chaos as the Cadian Gate. They were all given the finest wargear and upgraded to stormtrooper status to aid them against chaos. The regiment is now deep within The Calixis Sector rooting out chaos and heretics. (althought the regiment think they were specially selected for the mission they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time; they were simply selected to serve as cannon fodder for the Grey Knights. Every soldier must serve The Imperium and God Emperor and this is how my regiment will)

Welcome to the Daemonhunters, the ranks of the exalted Ordo Malleus and their cannon fod....er, I mean, loyal allies. Remember...the only ones who need fear the righteous might of the Ordo Malleus are the Daemonic.

Gathering the Informations.

82nd Cadian Regiment here. 82nd was present on Cadia during the final stages of the 13th Black Crusade, distinguished itself with honors when launching a counterattack at the designated withdrawl site that resulted in the 82nd's Sentinels and sniper teams feeding coordinates to an orbiting Emperor class cruiser providing precision bombardments to knock out a corrupted Reaver Titan that was moving in to bring down a planetary defense laser.

The 82nd is currently stationed, for the most part, at a staging point situated in the highland moors and using their Sentinel and mechanized units to mount incursions into the still corrupted areas of Cadia. Since the current climate of Cadia is that the Imperium dominates the space surrounding Cadia and the Gate itself, but a full half of the planet's surface is teeming with hordes of mutants, renegades, Traitor Astartes units, and more--the vast majority of the raids are conducted as surgical operations to lay down designators to bring the wrath of orbiting craft onto the heretics and traitors below.

Really only came up with that after the information I got from Cadian Blood(Half the planet is still under Imperial controls, and they're constantly reinforcing the surface--but there's enough renegades and the like on the ground that it is giving the troops on the ground an issue).
