Well...
Not necessarily new, but I don;t have a name for these guys yet, so it works for a title!
EDIT:: A name has been decided!
Say hello to the Marines Chrysemys!! (thats "kry-SEHM-eez")
A Bit of Background...
I really should do a bit of fluff for these guys... I write as a hobby and still I've been lazy 
anywho... It all started with a bit of an inside joke between members of a roleplay forum I'm on. Long story short, I ended up creating a religion that worshiped "Wstfgl the turtle of Randomness." I made a sig for him and much of it was a combination of white, orange, and green. So I went to the Bolter and Chainsword forums, hopped on their SM painter and came up with this:
I wanted something truly unique. Something that took your eye, kicked it around, then threw it back at you. Im pretty pleased at the result.
For those of you who follow my Ork blog, these guys may be a bit familiar.

Wow that was alot of stuff!
Now Im working on an old 3rd Ed. Librarian that Im going to use mostly as one of the Sergeants for my Tac squads.
For him Im adding a custom banner, and my plan s something like this:

And this is where I ask the first of many questions!
What colors should I paint the swirls on the turtle's back, and what color should I paint the banner's border (the black section around the main design)?
C&C welcomed, and all suggestions are appreciated (especially of names  )!

OK, that was nearly a page on its own. I think the orange and green would do for the swirls, as those are your chapter colours, and black for the border.

I've been debating what to do with my marines from my black reach box for a couple of weeks, and I love the color scheme and turtle logo. If ya make up some suitably awesome fluff I would be hard pressed not to join the turtle chapter!

^^ "mystic energy of the universe" heh I like that! (hoooo... what if I write a ton of psykers into my eventual fluff. It could be symbolic of the warp! xD ) The spiral I love too, but Id love it more if I could stop mixing up the direction! Haha! Thanks you guys, Im glad it turned out that way!
Much better to hear than "the Painter looks better".
So today I worked a little on the banner, got the parchment area done, and the swirls about halfway.
Im gonna add another layer of shadow to the orange areas, and maybe another highlight with the green. Then its the turtle, and we're on our way!
In related news, I picked up some acrylic retarder from Blick's art supplies.
messed around a little with it, and already Im liking it!
It gives the citadel paints a TON more working time!
Hopefully I'll finally be able to learn wet blending!

The Librarian/Sergeant (however I feel like using him) is also done!
My original plan is to pop the banner on the libby's backpack, and use him as a sergeant for my First Squad

Finished Sergeant Libby. (hahahahah... oh what a name to pick for a nickname xD)
Just have a few minor details on him, and its off to clear coating him!
The rest of the squad hasnt seen too much work... I've been slacking lately.
But I did manage to get a bunch of Green Stuff!
My first attempt at making a beakie head. The guy who i got it from had messed up the ridge thing... reaaaaaally badly.
Also started on my Sternguard Vets. Just the base color so far...
The heads of the vet squad are going to be green, just like the Termies. Unless someone has a better idea!
I'm thinking of making more vets. all armed with combi-weaponry. Probably convert some tacticals I have laying around, eh?
Well.. I guess thats another project...

shell part? I don't think I've thought of that. For the usual marines I was just going to keep the orange and DA green accents. The only Marine i was ever sure I was going to add a shell was the captain. It was easy enough to imagine where it would go and all that. I don't know how I could bring in a shell motif with the rest of the marines. Putting a shell design on the tabards (is that what they're called??) i think would be awkward... Do you have any ideas? Hmm.. Perhaps if nothing else, i could make like the First Squad (something high up in the ranks or special) have some sort of shell/scale motif. Like Alpha Legion with the scales on the shoulders. (then again... could give em all capes <.< ) I am pretty sure I'm going to work in the shell with the vehicles somehow. like on the top hatch of the rhinos, and the turrets of the preds. hahaha! Dude... thats wicked! Im gonna give it a shot on a tac marine, see how it rolls out. If I can get it to look how I'm picturing it in my head... Hmm... I wonder how a shell-painted helmet would look, like on the sternguards.... *ponders* This calls for experimentation!
