Was looking thru octobers issue of WD the other day and saw something interesting..
If you look at the pics with nids in them youll see that the Bio-weapons on the nids are painted differently than the current nid paint scheme(leviathan) Is this the new paint scheme for Nids? I´m sorry that i dont have any pics to show you, but im sure someone can post them in this thread

Yeah, the red guns certainly are different on the studio Leviathan scheme.
I always prefered different coloured guns on my nids.
The wat these squads are painted up seems to imply that there is little change to the make up of tyranid warrior broods.
I may be wrong and will of course be waiting til january to make up my broods.

I think the new Hive fleet is molotch which has a red exoskeleton.

One thing to note is which units are pictured. Those models are certainly the studio tyranid army. And they were certainly re-touched to be photographed for their codex.

Notice the hive tyrant is in there. Along with warriors.

..will someone try to post pics please because i'm an avid tyranid player and i'm definitely buying the new codex in Jan '10 (which happens to be my birthday as well ). Anyway, i know that i'll be getting this WD as i always do (i need to subscribe and save money but keep forgetting!), but until i buy it i am eager for pics!!!

The pure white stealers are nice but the squad loadout seems odd???

@Shep: A recut could still be a possibility. It just means re positioning the sprues and probably adding/taking away weapon options.

I think I much prefer the designs with the colored weapons. They contrast very well with the stark white, I especially loved the tyrants venom canon. The gradient just makes it look exotic and fleshy, like alien bio weapons SHOULD look.

Contrasting weapons = good. Makes it clearer who's armed with what.

And it really is the finishing touch that sets off the whole model. Man, that studio paint job looks so much better with the weapons colored red.

I think the color scheme is all that's on show here. Nice to see the visual direction they're headed in though.

It does seem odd that the studio Leviathan army got a repaint at this stage, considering there's no new models on display. I'd guess that the models shown aren't getting a replacement in the new Codex (I hope not, I love the current Warriors/Carnifex).

My dogsitter's cousin that works next door to GW's HQ said they want to make Nids bigger and better than IG and Space wolves, so nids will be able to take 7 HQ choices and squadrons of 5 carnifexes, but no more elite ones so you can only have is 15 per list.

Remember the author of the codex is Robin, the dude responsible for IG.

Nids will be able to take Carnifexes in squadrons of 3. Old One Eye will make his return, and in his fluff he'll headbutt a Terminator so hard that his squad will run away. There will also be a new special character that can 'attach' himself to a Carnifex to give it WS 5 ans FnP. And let's not forget the Gaunt special character, who can move and fire with a Deathspitter. Can't forget the Lictor special character, who can appear anywhere on the board and throw a large template with his portable Barbed Strangler.

No no he's a Spore who's name is ksaP.

But Warriors will cost about 10 points too much to be worth taking, and the new uber unit Let's call is the Psychic Bug Species (PBS for short), a unit of psychic bugs with a sweet ability will have to be converted, because there will be no official boxed set until wave 6.

How did we get the information of these special units?

I think its abit early to start throwing around sweeping statements about units just at the moment, I mean the codex is 3 months away atleast. Until I either see greens or a leeked rules/codex then I think we cant really assume anything.

New units aside, I wonder if there will be a new hive fleet. Anything to get the timeline rolling.
