So when a second GA location was listed, and it wasn't somewhere I knew right off hand (I don't travel for games often), I had to check. A Google map search later... 28 'ard Boyz semifinal locations, and two of them are 11 miles apart? WTF? I mean, I enjoy having a location that I can make a day trip for, but this is ridiculous, is it not?

Here is the scoop.
The stores apparently have 2 different GW reps. One rep promised his store the Semi-finals a few months ago, but that store(Phoenix) had also hosted the 40k Semi-finals. So the other store's rep promised Tower that they could host the Fantasy Semi-finals. So, after all promises were made, GW wasn't willing to piss off either retailer, and just decided to let them both host the event.
To be honest, I don't think it's that big a deal, not sure why you do. The 40k finals were about an hour and a half apart, so not that far in reality either. End of the day, 2 places really close, if one fills up, you should be able to get a spot in the other.

Clay,
I don't have a problem with it from my point of view, I'm just trying to think of the community at large. One of those locations could have been elsewhere. When there's just over 1 location per 2 states in the US, and Canada is represented as well... explaining to people that couldn't reach any of the locations why I had two choices ten minutes apart is going to be awkward.

Yeah, but here's the thing. They didnt take away anyone's spot and give it to one of these two stores. They ADDED a spot. That means, if you take away one of the 2, then nothing changes for the community at large. So in the end, it doesn't hurt anyone, and only helps us. Again, not seeing where anyone could have a problem with this. If anything, i'd think that in the future, more stores would ask for and try and get the Semis hosted at their place.

Closest store to me is either Idaho or Colorado which makes absolutley no sense. Utah had five participating stores for the first round more than both of the other states. I won't be making the next round qualifyer as both are to far away.
