I did alot of 40k about 3 years ago and I played an Ultramarines army. I decided to come back, but my Ultramarines are so hideously painted that I almost want to start another army that doesnt look so terrible. However, it seems like it would be a waste to just leave them rotting. The other army that I was eyeing was Chaos Space Marines. I like their fluff and they seem like a good army. This is what i had when I left 40k:
Well, the collection is quite good so that I'd opt for Space Marines.
I'd choose a specific chapter like Salamanders, Crimson Fists or a custom made chapter.

The new SW codex did just come out, and they have some nice stuff. But there is alot of pride in a custom chapter, so it really comes down to you and your tastes. I do occasionally scream "blood for the blood god!" with my Salamanders cause I miss my chaos army from years back.
