Does anyone know how much an old imperial guard codex will sell for? My friends says 20-50, but I don't know.
It's the one with the catachan guys.

I'd be surprised if it sold for more than $5... Are you saying 20-50 CAN$? or $.20-$.50?

You hardly can sell it.
A collector eventually buys it, but its not a rare book that brings a lot of money.

I didn't think any codex was worth that. Some of the Rogue Trader books are worth a lot more, Lost and the Damned, 'Ere We Go, etc. But the codexes from 2nd edition onward? Nearly worthless, that's how I've picked up nearly a whole set for next to nothing, same with Warhammer Armies books.

Yup, it's worth as much as a new issue of white dwarf.
Keep it, I still use my old codexesis and rulebooksesis for paintschemes, background, rules for formations/ideas for units in Apocalypse.
Great resource material but worth virtually nothing, sorry.

I'd say it depends on the condition. Old codices have material and fluff that are lacking in the newer versions. But yes, they are mainly purchased by collectors since (usually) they can't be used in modern games.
Interestingly, in my group, the stats in the older Dexes are allowed in games of Apoc for units that no longer exist. Like Aun'Shi of the Tau - he simply does not exist in newer versions of the rules. If you want this legendary figure in your game of Apoc, you need the old dex. Some players will allow it in "regular" games of 40K also. It isn't allowed in any official tournaments of course, but makes an interesting change of pace for those who want to try something different!

5 bucks. at our local used book store.
The thing is that no one wants the old stuff after about a month of the new being on the market. Call it a hobby hazard or something. Aye, The Rogue trader books are worth far more.
I once saw a LATD book go for around a grand on E bay. It was mint condition.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

I have 4, maybe 5, copies of it. I have never gone out of my way to purchase one (I got two copies of it in the same day from buying up codex lots on ebay). If someone finds some place to sell them for $20 or more, please share it with those of us that have more than one.
