South Africa!!!

Greetings DAKKA dudes!

I am in need of your help. Among my friends I’m known as the guy who hates to use representative models, although I don’t mind my opponent using them I’ve always just loved to use what I can see.

Now here due to my stubbornness I have encountered a problem. I am sitting with one demolisher kit (latest) and a leman russ kit both brand new and never touched, so the problem is this. Originally I wanted a demolisher (as my friend gave me his old demolisher bits: cannon etc), and who doesn’t I mean huge terminator killing pie plate of death! But I was also wondering if I should build a vanquisher out of the leman russ (to seek out the enemies tanks!) as was my original intention.

My army includes two battle cannon LRBT’s and an exterminator right now, so that’s already two tank killing lascannons , with my demolisher that’s another one! And I mean what sponsons to use with each?

So people of dakka, do I build a vanquisher or a punisher or an executioner? Modelling they are all awesome, but in gaming terms what to build?

"In the name of the Emperor CHARGE!!!!"

Id rather have a rail-gun than a lazcannon!!!

A trooper is drilled in combat and his duties to the Imperium: he is stout of heart and eager to enforce the Emperor's law.

If anyone lives in Cape Town South Africa...get in touch and we can have a game!!!!

I like the Executioner (plasma turret) out of the three. AP2 but at a longer range than the Demolisher, and works well with Plasma sponsons for 5 blast marker plasma death.

With the Latest Leman Russ Demolisher kit it is actually quite easy to magnetize all the sponsons and turrets so everything is swapable so you can have an all in one tank where you can field an Executioner or Demolisher with Plasma Sponsons and hull heavy flamer or a Punisher with Bolter Sponsons and Hull Heavy Bolter.

But if you don't want to use magnets Daba is right that the Executioner is probably the best out of the three with plasma sponsons and a hull heavy flamer.

Executioner, plasma sponsons, hull weapon of your choice. The Vanquisher, though sexy, is unreliable.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

Vanquisher with pask added on.

The executioner is nice, but lacks alot of tank-killyness. I run a vanquisherw/plasma sponsons, lascannon, pask, and 2 executioners with plasma sponsons for infantry cleanup.

The vanquisher's extra D6 for armor penetration and pasks +1 to armor penetration rolls and BS4 mean that I can actually glance armor 14 with plasma cannons.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
An executioner with plasma sponsons means a plasma blast for every terminator in a 5 man squad, a demolisher has a shorter range, and terminators do have an invulnerable save, so I enjoy having an extra 12 inches just in case some survive the initial attack.

Demolishers are aces, so always make at least one of those. 2 or 3 are even better. Enough S10 AP2 pie plates solves any problem.

Executioners are also good, and you can use one of these, too.

Punishers and Vanquishers are meh. Pass, don't bother.

LRBTs are great substitutes for Artillery, so leave them as-is.

Exterminators should be re-gunned with leftover weapons.

This is very true. The magnets you'd need are very cheap (5-6 bucks for 100 or so) and to be honest, the only thing you'd really need to magnetize is the main weapons, as the sponsons and hull mounted weapon have large tabs that will stay in place during a game with no magnets at all, as long as you don't pick it up and start shaking it or something.

I say to go with a demolisher w/ heavy flamer on the hull and plasma cannons on the sponsons! Its best used aggressively as a line breaker, as you have the large blast for everything including tanks, the flamer for GEQs/ assault range units and the plasma for MEQs. I run this config, and it hasn't disappointed me yet.

I assault with my guardsmen, why dont you?

ALWAYS repeat ALWAYS use this build: demolisher, plasma sponsons, lc hull...expensive as feth but as long as you run at least two of 'em and play a gunline/or move 'em 6' first turn and shoot the demolisher cannon, then stay where you are or move further this bro killZ

...nothing else matters...

Overpriced. Adding Las & double Plas is 55 pts, an dyou're saying to run 2 or 3 of them for 110 or 165 pts.

165 pts is another HF Demolisher.

Totally not worth it.

I agree with John, I keep my Demolishers cheap with only the standard armaments (and only using the Heavy Bolter against targets in cover, or save <4+ so no one can abuse wound allocation).

I do like adding plasma to the executioner...seeing the look on someone face when two tanks drop 10(!) plasma templates on a unit is well worth the cost (and boy it kills things dead).

Japan

2 punishers + pask. scares people more than hurts them.

As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. You drag them to their beds, realising that they will not be waking up for some time.

I go for Executioners with Plasma Cannon sponsons: already have two with a third one planned.
