What the title says.. I 'm at a loss on how to achieve the colour the GW do on their tanks. Also please note that i only have access to Gw paints (yeah i know greece is kind of a backwater). Thanks in advance...

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

do you want a sort of cream colour, or a stone colour?

I was just thinking about that myself. I was going to try a basecoat of Chaos Black followed by Camo Green and topped off with Rotting Flesh.

Dakka member Shep had the same problem and though i admire his models a am not pleased by his tanks, i find them too creamy for my taste

I too would love a tutorial on how exactly to get that color shown in the image above. I've started out with a basecoat of black spray, followed by deneb stone coat and then followed by a simple coat of Kommando Khaki, which I was planning on hitting with a good solid wash, before doing edges in either a bleach bone or a mix of 50/50 bleach bone/kommando Khaki. But the true color eludes me, In some images it looks like a pale sand color, while in others it seems to be a very pale gray shade (fortress gray?) I'd love some advice on how to achieve this color as i like the way it looks on the tabletop.

At this point I'm probably going to try and repaint the one tank I've got 'started' a fortress grey shade and call it done.. but as I said if it's actually a bone/off-white color, I'll leave it as it is.

Thanks for any help with this.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

I painted a tank myself that colour.

I used the Khemri Foundation, then Rotting flesh, then devlian mud alllll over it, then more rotting flesh to lighten up parts then bleached bone on some more higher parts if you want. then the Red Foundation and blood red for highlights on the side of tanks.
