I remember when most battles seemed to be at 1250, 1500, or 2000 points but lately in the battle report section of this forum it seems that almost every tourniment army size is 1850 points.

That seems to be a strange number because tourniment sizes used to go up in increments of 250 points. Is 1850 the GW-sanctioned point value for organized play?

In my area 1850 seems to be the most common. Sometimes there are 2000 tournaments. 1850 and 2000 seem to be the most balanced for all armies to compete.

At smaller sizes like 1500 (and 1750 to a lesser extent) certain armies just can't compete because they can't afford all the tools they need.

Same goes for higher point games, at 2500 some armies scale horribly, like DE.

I prefer 1500pt games to 1850, 2000pt.

yea because DE did horrible at 'Ard Boyz...

We play 1750pt tournaments in my area the most, but also throw in 1850 and 2000pt tournaments sometimes to shake things up a bit.

Back in the Summer of 08 it seemed like every US tournament was 1750. Then 09 started with an indy gt of 1850 in Seattle. Since then I've seen a LOT of 1850 tournaments, but now I'm seeing a lot of 2000 point tournaments.

I'm seeing quite a few 1850 events lately but the Conflict GT in January is 1750
