My buddy plays a Chaos marine army using the Marine Codex, as he thinks it is more 'chaosy' (he reasons this as they just went traitor the day before). With the arrival of the new IG codex he was going to do something similar. Not to sound conceded, but I am one of the better painters where I normally play. My friends asked a favor and he is a pretty good friend so I agreed to paint a pair of chimeras. I finished them for him in a few weeks, and he has yet to finish the rest of his army and has yet to play it! I figured I would get some feedback on them. Enjoy!

To be completely honest... it just looks like a red chimera. There's nothing that indicates chaos at all. I would start by using some washes to make it dirty as well as add some spikey stuff and glue or paint on some chaos emblems.

Needs spikes, spikes and more spikes and blood effects and stuff.

A typical Chaos vehicle is about 50% salvaged Imperial vehicle, 40% spikes and 10% random symbols and cool stuff.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH spikes evil

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I have no problem with spikeless Chaos, but at present it does look a little flat.

Running a black or Devlan Mud wash over all the silver bits would be a good start... would give them back some definition.

Drilling out the heavy bolter barrel would help finish it off, as well.

Reds a hard colour to paint, but your coat looks solid & even. I would look to tracing out some devlan mud on the details as suggested by insaniak, you would be amazed by the additional depth you get to a model.

I agree with Darkkt and Insaniak, the model is very flat. putting a black or brown wash over the metal and a Baal red wash over the red will really add some needed depth to the model. and allow you to highlight with whatever color you used to paint them
