Subject: New Skaven, any good?

Allways been a skaven fan and sometimes ive played using them (however, the fluff is still great )
Just wanted as much info as possible on the new book (changes wise) if possible please.
There are a few key elements im interested in, but any and all info is of great help.
1: weapons teams: Do they still get worked into the army as they did before?
2: Deathmaster and queek: both great characters that had great rules, due to new figs i take it they are in, but are thier rules like they used to be? ( DM was a unit killer with amazing items, queek was a monster killer with amazing rules and LD)
3: Storm vermin: still the same? or been nerfed?
4: Leadership: have they kept pack rules the same? seemed like an amazing rule, just wanted to make sure it was still about.
Thanks for any and all info.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor. |

I don`t like the new skaven clanrats, i think the old ones were much better. And 1/2 pt kinda bugs me, other than that
It seems like it`s old style skaven a little modyfied, and i like that. Way to go!

My death will be avenged millions of rapid fire las bolts, followed by a plethora of heavy weapons artillery and other colorful assortments of death that will send chaos crying back to the warp where they will remain until they come up with another one of their "original" plans

Sweet! skaven havent been nerfed
May actually start a new army in that case thanks to some old units being brought back
also, if the doomwheel still good? or is it a WLC on wheels?
New rats aint too bad, just a shame they went skink style with the sprues, meaning they are now converters nightmares.
Plastic storms are nice though

There is a summary of the new Skaven rules kicking around on news and rumours somewhere. From what I recall...
Queek is still pretty handy in close combat and improves the staline of the Stormvermin unit he is with.
The Deathmaster remains the skaven's close combat god. In fact, from my glance at the book the other day, I don't think he's change at all.
Weapon Teams still attached to Clanrat and Stormvermin units, but there are some new ones to add to the mix e.g. Poison Wind Mortar. No models yet, but presumably be along in Wave 2.
Much discussed is the Clan Moulder created Hell Pit Abomination which is essentially a cross between a giant rat ogre and a chaos spawn. Sadly no model, but it looks like it will create havoc.

Thanks flash
sounds all good in the long run, and i may actually get to convert something
Do they still run clan only lists? or is there an option to? (i would rather run a pure eshin list lol)

Sadly no Clan lists, although a Clan Pestilins army is possible with Skrolk (he makes Plague Monks core).
The mainstay unit rule is gone though, so no requirement to have more Clan Rat units than other stuff.

looks like ill have to tairlor a list then to suit eshin :(
i take it they didnt go DE style and throw assassins in as no chart space?
just a shame they use up a hero space, when DM does such a great job on his own

Actually, he has:
Things I know he lost for sure: Killing Blow, Warpstone Throwing Stars, +1 Strength from Weeping Blades, Bands of Power, Cloak is now a 4+ to shoot at him instead of a 5+. Pretty sure he also lost a point in Weapon Skill and Leadership. He tries to make up for it by being half the original's cost and only being a hero, but considering he lost several of his advantages (all assassin's now have a 4+ Ward Save, for instance) I don't think I'd use him. Armor piercing is not that great on a S4 D3 wound weapon, seeing as most of the tough stuff that you'd want to get the multi-wound on have toughness - not armor - going for them.

Gah! He's lost Bands of Power? Curses! Oh well, still an awesome model and I'll be taking him for that reason alone.

Queek got really nasty with +1 to hit and wound in challenges with a 'no armor save' weapon and he has a 3+ save with no ward, but he's dirt cheap and leadership 8.
Ratling guns lost the auto hit and now have to roll. Most weapon teams can now stand and shoot as well. There are 2 new weapon teams, a mortar that can use the LOS of the parent unit and a weird blade/ball combat monster thingy that auto hits with d3 impact hits and an artillery die worth of ratling gun damage.
Storm vermin look about the same, maybe a point change.
Leadership rules are the same as they were.

Sweet, doesent sound too bad i guess, shame the ruined the deathmaster though, kinda spoils the idea of a clan eshin army now without a master assassin there.

Nah, loss of Deathmaster doesn't ruin Eshin. Loss of everything being Skirmishers and Magical Gutter Runner Attacks ruins straight-Eshin lists... from last edition.
Eshin still works, just on an entirely different mechanic than it worked last book.
