Lol, not remotely "News" Pyrus, but I'll let you off, cos I'm excited too. I'm technically banned from buying more Warhammer stuff, but it's not like the wife is keeping an inventory (well, I hope not anyway).

Yes, she has this odd idea that having a wardrobe full of unpainted miniatures makes buying more completely unnecessary. Fortunately, it's not hard to sneak the odd new box in there. Will be getting the army book and clanrats tomorrow. Going to challenge myself to paint them in a week.

Hah. One of the store staff at my FLGS is painting a 2000 point Skaven army in a week. It has over 200 models in it. Man, up Flashman! :p

They are already out here in Oz (hooray for timezones).

I am however at work and Maelstrom Games is sending my order this week.

However playing with the Stormvermin and clanrat kits over the last week and reading the book the last couple they will sell like cheesecakes.

The stormvermin are absoultely wonderful models, the clanrats less so, but people won't be up close scrutinsing the masses of clanrats.

not allowed a new army until ive finished my current one, im also allowed no more than 5 armies, so im forever selling them lol.

but yea, new skaven did interest me, until i realised that the Deathmaster got a serious downgrade and eshin lists are near impossible to run with much effect.

Allthough, its nice to have some old things back, mainly the wheel and queek
feth new characters, old queek and DM all the way

atleast we have no mainstay unit rule now, so storms all the way with queek leading a block of 99

Queek is insane in combat, just as he should be.

He'd be my 1st choice for games allowing special characters.

Gonads, ive been told DM is now a hero, and hes lost his bands and other nice gear.
Meaning he is now an expensive assassin with a name and a rather long life span for a skaven.
So yea, thats pissed me off big time i want my unit killing champ, allthough, im sure queek will get the job done instead, just not as fast.

I do agree Deathmaster is much weakend (too much), but he is meant to be a surprise for enemies who charge in, not a frontline combat character, so I can see why they did it.

Queek headtaker with his 7 attacks, WS 8, 2+ to wound dwarves and no armour saves, great armour (can't remember what it does ATM) and warlord leadership is where the action is at.

But I like choppy, choppy combat.

Sniktch is ment for sneak attacks yes, but i used to run him around with 2 assassins carving up units on thier own and hunting characters / monsters

what does he have now that gives him the edge over a basic assassin? (except a fething amazing model lol)

I think i may go with Queek and a storm vermin heavy army now.
Any idea if there are upgrades on rat ogres this time? (used to be able to take heavy armour)

If thats possible then i think ill take a unit or 2 aswell lol.



Queek is a beast, like he should be, but im just pissed they made him stronger than the DM lol.


also, kinda annoyed there isnt a new ikit model or skrolk.

I'm disappointed about Grey Seer Thanquol and Boneripper. They are awesome but now look out of date.

Waaagh - I was thinking of getting the clan rats. Could you elaborate as to why they are less than wonderful models?
Unfortunately the stormvermin are out of the question, because of the price. Doesnt anybody else have a problem with the price tag on the stormvermin?

I actually think the Clanrats look great!

Ha, just looked at what's new today, and the picture of Snikch is the wrong way around.

The clanrats are draped in cloth, and the odd piece of armour sticks out. Also due to the hunched nature of them, you'll see the detail on the front rank, then behind that what looks like a heaped of hunched homeless people.
Night goblins are covered in robes, but at least you see their faces and arms when they rank up.
Don't get me wrong, as a mass unit you get a great feel for a horde of ratmen, but painting wise alot of the detail will be lost, simply because there is no point on filling it in.

It is a pity the stormvermin areexpensive. They really are sensational models and with little work would be perfect for blood bowl, dioramas and golden daemon. They are smothered in detail.
Also as they are more upright you will see their faces and upper torsos.

Also boneripper is still a brilliant model, probably because there is nothing else like him in WHFB.
Also the restriction in the last army book that stopped him attacking clan skyre models is gone in the new book.

I agree with WAAGH. I do not like all the robes and drapes. I will just stick to my current models. Not like I use them much anyway.

I do think they are an improvement over the last edition of gigantic handed dogfaced ratmen. these do actually look like ratmen.

One of the heads for the clanrats is wearing a studded gimp mask.

I'm going to be picking up a Queek model, and I don't even play Fantasy, much less Skaven. He's destined to be Niurgled up a bit and made to stand in for Epidemius in my 40k Tallyman list.

Yeeeessss... that price is much more reasonable. I might get some stormvermin after all. I'd like to see the sprues though...
