So I've been toying with the idea of making a 2k HE list centered around a Null Stone Prince. Not quite sure the best way to get it working.

Initial thoughts:

LORDS
Prince - 292
DP kit, Nullstone

HEROES
Mage - 185
lvl2, 1x DS, Seerstaff

Mage - 185
lvl2, Silver Wand, Ring of Fury

CORE
10x Archers - 110
10x Archers - 110

SPECIAL
9x Silverhelms - 231
Shields, Muso, High Helm

2x Tiranoc Chariots - 170

15x Phoenix Guard - 330
Full Command, Skeinsliver, Banner of Sorcery

5x Shadow Warriors - 85

RARE
2x RBTs - 200
2x Great Eagles -100.

The idea would be to deliver the prince to enemy mages/heroes with the Silverhelms - chosen over DPs only for the higher numbers. They'll hopefully gain assistance from the Chariots.

Mages would try to make sure Shield of Saphery is cast on the SilverHelm/Prince unit to afford extra survivability since magic cast outside of the Nullstone's 6" bubble can still affect them. Otherwise, spam spells at the more dangerous enemy units. Shadow Warriors and Eagles work to make sure that back-row units have trouble moving around.

I'm sure there're some glaring holes in this plan that I'm overlooking, so any input would be helpful.

Always max hero/lord slots. Drop one eagle for another rbt. Drop silver helms for DP, honestly there is never a reason to take silver helms over DP in the current edition of the HE army book. As for the null stone IMHO it is not worth it, an archmage with book of hoeth is far more efective. Also remember with nothing but the DP kit on your prince he is still going to face alot of lords and heros with a base str of 4 or 5, some even could be higher, against his T3. So for 100 points of null stone you really are not offering any punch or survivability.

I also wouldn't use a prince without a bsb to accompany him. Something else that I find effective in 2k or 2250 games is a lvl 4 archmage lord lvl 2 dragon mage and another lvl 2 mage for heros. A dragon mage has the casting power (maybe more) of an archmage, especially with a jewel of dusk. I find alot of people severly underestimate dragon mages.

The point of the list is rather to focus on the Nullstone.

I have seen one list that looked interesting but it focused on using a Stardragon w/ null stone, the idea being that the stardragon could handle almost any enemy unit as long as they do not have magic items, and is pretty quick. I think it would work better than this list because your lord has no guarantee of beating many other heroes.

So i would maybe try something like this

Prince w/Null Stone, Dragon Armor, Lance, Shield

and then a semi typical star dragon build. Maybe some alterations to take advantage of Null Stone.

Otherwise with your list I would probably still change over Dragon Princes, you can take 7 w/champ, or 6 w/full command. The reasons i suggest switching is that, although you do gain a slight advantage against shooting, you are much weaker in combat. You have no guarantee that you can win combat, and you have a better chance with 7 frontage, in my opinion. (I also play against daemons, where immune to fire is awesome!)

Humm this gives me an idea. useing a prince nullstone on star dragon with dp kit and have 2 units of dp 5 to 7 strong with sb and champ one running with a bsb in DP kit with battle banner. this could be fun and work well but you will have to be soo soo careful running a star dragon with a prince and only haveing a 3+ save. I use 2 star dragons with princes in my 3k list and it works really good, BUT one prince has a 2+ as with re-roll and a 4+ ws the other has a 3+ as with re-rolls and a 5+ ward and thats why they work well. a prince on star dragon with only a 3+ as is really risky and super vulnerable to shoting.

yeah he is, good news if you play against a group, maybe they wont shoot at it the first game with arrows as they assume they wont do anything anyways. Of course after that then... hide, oh and pray no bolt throwers/cannonballs accidentally hit your prince in the mean time. Or keep him in combat.
