I think I should start, can somebody give me a walkthrough? Why should I play?

Why should you play?
It's a 40K rpg Gang Warfare...
Low model count means more time to lavish individual models and work on painting and converting/sculping details.

But, I caution, it's best if you have a group all starting together and 'stick' with it.

As for a walk through, most of the info you will need (IE rulebooks resources) will be available free for download from GW's site: specialist games tab.

Each 'basic' gang has a theme to them in how they work/live/kill/survive, so the skills and weapon choices somewhat reflect that.

The 'unit' options include: Leader, Heavy, Ganger, 'Noobie'. WHich are all self explanitory.

YOu make money, you backstab, you take a much more hands on, face on approach to the game.

Stuff like that, sadly, this post is coming from a guy who has had 0 experience with his own gang, I've only played an 'intro' game a while back.

I'm very interested in starting myself.
I plan on lots of convertions, though I'm doing count as, my 'gangers' will be based off of Kroot....though are not exactly ending up as kroot.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

You only need 6-10 models for it.
You get to spend much more time on each of them, because they are a gang of individuals.

You only play on a 4x4, but you can feel free to go up to 60-70% terrain (multiple levels, catwalks and stuff).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

There's a more personal touch to it. You start getting angry when your super hardcore fighter takes a bullet to the back of the skull.

Thank you for helping, yet I still have one question.
Can my super hardcore fighter be a SM?

Proper Necro, no SM. However, if you look at some of the necromunda blogs going around you'll see plenty of weird and wacky ways of using the system, and that of second ed 40k(on which it's based) used to good effect. Have a look at 'tales from the maelstrom' and some of the links from there for ideas.

Wow, thanks for telling us about 'tales from the maelstrom'. Never knew about it. Great stuff there.

Question: What is the average starting Gang rating do you guys usually have?
Should I actively go for as low as I can for bonuses?

It seems the basic template is:

Leader, 2 Hvy, 6 Gangers, Z Juves (where Z is whatever that fits after gear is paid for).
Leaving some pretty highish Gang Ratings.
