After picking up a few savage orc models at a sale, I've been playing around with army lists.
This is a themed army, I don't want any armor on them (hats, amulets etc are fine) and they're going to be as 'wild' as possible ^^

Here's a draft of a list I kinda like:

----1001 Point Savage Orc WAAAGH!----

Savage Warboss Raaagh
- Martog's Best Basha
- Boar

= 114

Savage Shaman Graaagh
- Level 2
- Waaaagh paint
- Skull wand of Kaloth

= 155

Savage orc boyz x 15
- Full command
- Additional choppa

= 180

Savage orc boyz x 15
- Full command
- Additional choppa

= 180

Savage orc boar boyz x 5
- Full command
= 164

Giant

Total: 1001

The idea is to stick the Warboss and Shaman in seperate Boy units with the boar boyz attempting to create flanking oppertunities and the giant being a magnet for spells and shooting. The idea otherwise is straightforward; Charge and Waaagh when appropriate! Half the army is frenzied anyway so I don't really have much control over what I charge

I'm a Vampire Counts player so my experience with orcs is limited. Any advice on building a better Savage orc themed list is appreciated. Also, having not playing against 'orcs' that much (there's a goblin player I've had a few skirmishes with) I'd appreciate if people have any comments on the strengths and drawbacks of this list. I think I know what they are, but again I have no experience playing orcs and I haven't played against them so there could be alot I'm not realizing.

My opponents are likely to be mostly Ogres, Skaven, Empire (gunline) and Wood-elves (forest spirit heavy).
The list is not intended for competetive playing.

Also.
Alot of people play 'Warbands' type games here. Instead of making a new thread I was thinking I'd just ask for advice on it here as well.
It's similar to the 1000 point list;

----600 Point Savage Orc Warband WAAAGH!----

Savage Shaman Graaagh
- Skull wand of Kaloth
- Waaaaaagh paint

= 120

Savage Orc Boyz x 15
- Additional choppa
- Full command

=180

Savage Orc Boyz x 15
- Additional choppa
- Full command

=180

Trolls x 3

Total: 600 pts.

Same idea as with the 1000 point list. Shammie goes in a boy unit and then we charge across the battlefield bringing glory to Gork (and possibly Mork). The trolls will hopefully be able to tear up flanking units or set up flanks with the boyz (since I can atleast control what they're charging...unless they're stupidity kicks in!)

C&C is why I'm posting this here, so please do. Please remember these are themed lists (so no "lul add sum black orcs!")

Illegal and wrong in points. That's 55pts of magic items, and a Savage Orc Shaman at Level 2 is 105pts base.

Savage orc boar boyz x 5
- Full command
= 164
You need to bump these up to Big 'Uns, and buy them spears. You don't get the Choppa strength bonus when mounted. Your boars are worth more than the riders ATM.

I'm a Vampire Counts player so my experience with orcs is limited.
Be ready to have your Savage Orcs baited into charges, and for your army to start failing animosity in times of need. Have a contingency plan at all times.
I'd appreciate if people have any comments on the strengths and drawbacks of this list.
Strengths: 6+ Ward on everyone, everyone's T4, S4 first-round on every model, start game immune to psychology.

Weaknesses: It will be very easy to bait you into charges. Your character on a Boar is really vulnerable to this if he's not stuffed in with the boar boys, as if any enemy unit gets within 14" he'll charge them on his own.

EDIT: Another weakness is that your army is extremely small: Thirty seven models. Combine this with a low armor save and only 3 Dispel Dice, your army will have trouble against any shooty-focus or magic-focus army.

True!
This is what happens when you start adding stuff later =p
Fixed, warboss lost his hat, shammie lost his collar. 1 point over limit at the moment but that won't bother anyone I play against.

I could, but then I'm propably sacrificing the giant to the dark gods. Is it worth it losing a potentially hilarious model for beefing up my boar boys? (the potential for hilarity matters a great deal to me)

If hillarity is all that matters, keep 'em plain. It'll be funny having the mounts almost twice as deadly as the riders.

I've taken your pointers to heart Minsc and made some adjustments to the list.
The orcs, realizing the giant was eating all their supplies, attached some meat to a few goblins and had them run for their lives as the giant gleefully chased after them. This gave them the supplies needed to get Big 'uns and to scavenge a delightful hat for the General. A particularly vicious Big 'un (warboss) has been given command of a unit of Savage Boyz after helping to find the largest boar the orcs have ever seen. The honor to ride such a foul smelling and bad tempered beast can only belong to an equally foul smelling bad tempered beast; the General!
----1000 point Savage WAAAAAAGH!----

Warboss Raaagh
- Martog's Best Basha
- Warboss Umm's Best Boss 'At
- Ironback Boar (Savage Boar)

= 155

Shaman Graaagh
- Level 2
- Waaaagh paint
- Skull wand of Kaloth

= 155

Warboss Baaarg
- Additional Choppa
= 81

Savage orc boyz x 15
- Big 'uns
- Full command
- Additional choppa
- Nogg's Banner of Butchery

= 265

Savage orc boyz x 15
- Full command
- Additional choppa

= 180

Savage orc boar boyz x 5
- Full command
= 164

Total= 1000

Thanks alot for your help so far Minsc. This perhaps abit more viable?
