Hi there, i am new to dakka and am not sure if this is the right thread to post. But anyway i am new to the hobby and i am thinking of starting an Empire army and was wondering if anyone had any tips? What would be a good colour scheme? What would be the best way to go with an empire army?

I was thinking of having a solid infantry line of swordsmen and spearmen backed up with halberd detachments, this any good? haha. Would apprciate any feed back thanks

That is a good start but i i would also recommend having some gun lines. the reason i say this is i am going to play dwarfs and they are very slow moving and since your guys can move you should move them into close combat and the reason you want gunman also is so that you can shoot your enemy as well. In addition, i would recommend getting some cavalry. Moreover, I good looking color scheme might be to paint there armor black with a silver tint to it, the weapons you should paint silver, and then anything behind the armor paint red. I do not have any empire i am making that suggestion of paint scheme cause i went to gw (games workshop) website and saw that scheme on the greatswords and thought it looked awesome

Thanks for the info, yeah some handgunners and cannons in support will be good. Was thinking of taking some pistolers as well. As for the heavy cavalry are they best used as a detachment or as a unit on their own? As for a colour scheme was thinking of blue like Middenland, is this a too common colour scheme? The black armour does look nice, think will need to paint some of my units the same way

Having your block of swordsmen with one detachment Halberds and one detachment Free Company seems like a good "ready for anything" sort of build.

Not gonna lie I reallllly like the Warrior Priests, but I've never played Empire.

New Daemon player who likes blocks of infantry more than is healthy.

The cavalry knightly order unit is not a detachment unit.

I think the Helblaster Volleygun (cannon) is a real pain for the enemy, and knights of Morr are really cool

The Empire is my favorite army in WFB, but even I have to admit, they don't get called 'badboys' very often at all!
