Would anyone be nice enough to explain exactly how wheeling works? It looks so easy with the pretty diagrams in the Little Red Book (BFSP), but doing it on the table with a ruler seems much more complex.

What angle do you measure the wheel? Can I wheel a unit 94 degrees to the right and does it have the same movement cost as wheeling 15 degrees? Obviously it shouldn't, but depending on the way I angle the ruler it seems like both are viable. The Little Red Book says that the wheel cost for the unit is measured by the model that moves the most, but depending on the angle of the ruler it seems like I can wheel more with less movement.

Thanks in advance!

Neenah

I've always measured the start and end positions of the front outside corner of the unit go get the distance moved for a wheel.

ditto.

If you want a right hand wheel - pin the front right corner of the moment tray to the table with your finger. Place the rule next to the front left hand corner of the tray. Twist the tray - keeping the right front in place and measuring 1 inch of movement with the left front. Repeat as needed to wheel to the angle needed.
