Anyone in Canada/US/Mexico know which (if any) big chain stores tend to carry non-corrugated plasticard? I checked Home Depot last weekend, but they only had it in clear, 1/4" thick 8"x14" pieces. Everything else is corrugated and in HUGE sheets. I know dollar stores have "For Sale" signs, but I'd prefer getting it in larger quantities. Any confirmed sources would be great We've got at least one of every N.A. wide Hardware chain here, so if you've seen some, let me know.
Thanks

Try Hobbytown USA. They are a national hobby store chain that carries plasticard stock and rods.

Unfortunately, there're no chain hobby stores here. Just a Michaels. And that's flowery crafts and nowhere near Grimdark enough.
If I ever come across one, either here or South of the 49, I'll make sure to remember that though.

Cost is not an object on this stuff. I just need some
Locally would help, but we lack many hobby supply shops here. Just have two FLGS, and they don't sell much in terms of buildng materials, outside of paints/primers/glues/flock. You know, basics.
I do go down to the coast from time to time though, so thanks for the adress

So if cost is no object, just buy the HUGE sheets you found. They will probably cut it down at the store, and you can probably sell off what you don't need to fellow gamers (or here on Dakka).
At least that's my suggestion.
Seriously, how huge is huge?
Or you can call my local store and even order online. Example page:

Huge as in 12 foot by 10 foot and corrugated. Corrugated is not what I'm looking for. I'm aiming for smaller sheets, without ordering online. But it looks like that's my only option, as hardware stores only seem to stock corrugated, and in building supply sizes.

That's what I'm thinking it'll be. It's just a bugger to find them in non-corrugated sheets as well.

Why not online?
I've had a good experience here:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0097p?CATEGORY=RE
They've got everything there, including odd shapes, sizes, textures, tubes, rods, beams, etc.

I just find online a hassle, and I've never trusted online purchasing for physical goods. I know, I sound like an old man. I avoid them whenever I can. I'd much rather just go to a store somewhere in town. It looks like I'll need to go online for any textured stuff though. I'm going to stop by my FLGS after work though, and see if they know any local sources before I admit defeat

Try to look into the Hobby Train stores or model airplane stores in your area.

My pub is a block from my house. The Hardware Store is about 15 blocks in the opposite direction. Although there is a bar over there, but I prefer the pub. Less douchebaggery there. And a free pool table.
But For Sale signs it is, I suppose

Heh, we have to pay £1 per game at our local lol, seems annoying, but not as annoying as a triple JD n lime - £6 -_-
But yea, you will find most For sale signs are plasticard.
Barrett homes are around 5mm thick! (large projects like titans)
Wilsons are around 3mm (heavy structure)
K&D projects are around 1.6 ish i think, making them ideal for small models lol.
so, in my experience of sale sign stealing i can confirm they are great

do you have any colleges or universities near you. Most of them have art stores for the art students. Thats where I get my plastic card and masonite board. One thing to keep in mind, the sizes won't be big but they will have every kind you could ever imagine in all kinds of forms, including non corrugated.

Ive ordered from them a few times and while they have a minimum order, its only like 25$.
You can get any thickness youd really want plus they have textured plasticard as well.
Its also a great place to get plastic tubing, i-beams and other little sundries.

I know you said you didn't like buying online, but the good thing about plasticard is that...
number one, it's so cheap it doesn't matter if you lose $2 to a dodgy online business.
number two, you can pretty much order it whenever you need it.
I ordered through http://evilmushroomgames.com/ and ended up getting mine within the week (though I'm on the antipode to them in Australia) in perfect nick, and whereas I paid a hobby store $25 for five sheets of differing thickness plasticard, I only ended up paying these guys about $8 for enough plasticard to last me half an army, and twice as much as I got from the hobby store.

See, I need some mostly for making city tiles for my custom made Planetary Empires set (You can see the tiles in my blog btw)
Making mini hi-rises and city blocks out of GS is proving to be difficult, to say the least. I need plasticard so I can just cut and stack to make buildings and whatnot.
Tank mods/custom Tank builds and Truescaling are also on the agenda, but one at a time
