From a recent game - could I have played this any better?

I have a WoC giant hunting down a Wood Elf Treenman. The treeman hides in a forest, the giant plows in after it. In the forest, the giant has a LOS of 2 inches and is march blocked by the Treeman giving the giant a total movement of 3 inches per turn. The Treeman sits 2.5 inches from the giant in the giant's front vision arc. The giant can't charge, but can move close enough to kiss it.

Did we miss any rules for this situation? I'm having a hard time with a model that is march blocked, but is not allowed to perform a charge on the blocker.

If he is sitting in the forest he is dam hard to get out.

Sucks dont it. You can walk up to an inch away and watch him back up again but your not going to catch him until he gets out of the forest.

All the shile the Treeman should have been pelting your giant with an artillary dice worth of s5 hits in the shooting phase, then using his bound treesinging to cause d6 more s5 hits EVERY TURN.

Moral of the story is don't bother.

The Wood Elf player certainly tried - but threw two miss fires in a row. The whole game was like that - I ultimately won, but a few different dice results and I would have been massacred.

Don't go after Wood Elves that are inside (or move into) forests, you'll get hammered by S5 magic / shooting and still won't be able to charge.

In ur gaem, killin ur doodz.

Something you could have done... was to "wrangle him in"

Use a unit of skirmishers or light cavalry to get just barely outside of two inches of him, so that any movement he attempts won't get him outside of your 6 inch charge range with your giant, nor outside of his 2 inch sight radius

Remember. You can never move within an inch of a model if you don't charge it. ABUSE THAT RULE.

So basically you are saying: Just move into the Woods after the Treeman, try to use a Skirmishing unit to make sure the Treeman can't get outside of the Giant's 2" LoS in terrain (no LoS, no charge). If you succeed in this (which basically means: surround the Treeman with a skirmishing unit entirely), then you still need to hope that all those S5 attacks (Strangle Root Attack, Tree Singing, Deepwood Sphere, the Wood Elves will be pouring into your Giant (with only T5 and no save) won't be enough to take him out.
