I'm slowly plowing through a pile of BFG and was painting up some iconoclasts atm and, on opening the packs, I found that while the 'clasts in pack A were perfectly normal...

I won't call them good, these are GW minis, after all.

But I noticed something when I opened pack B. The iconoclasts in pack 2 had clearly come from a different mold. All the same minis were present, but there was this big chunk of metal flash on the engine end of two of them, removing the center engine tube in the upper row. These were all in real GW packaging, and the blisters were still sealed.

So, did something happen to GW's molds at some point or is someone pushing some forged forgeworlds here...?

Yay for oxymorons!!!!!

I'm not too familiar with the models that you speak of but I didn't think that FW made those BFG models at all?

I remember seeing in an older WD showing the packaging of new blisters and boxes. Metal bitz are in bins that the person reaches in and grabs a handful and loads them into the blister. I do not think it is a knock off of a model just that you got models from two different batches. Most likely that they were reaching the middle or end of the bin and the two more more batches were mixed in together. The stuff on the bottom is most likely when the mold was new and the stuff on the top will have the flash.

It was a pun. You know, humor?

Pip, normally if I would agree with you, but this looks like a new pour point, suggesting an entirely different mold. The engine area looks like it was re-sculpted to make room. The engine tube in the second tier, right under it, has been cut shorter in the version with the flash. If a had a working camera atm, I'd post a pic to show what I'm talking about, but these were from two very different castings.
