OK folks, we get lots of request for this one, but since we dont really want to be sued by a certain game company, we need to make the design different.

The shoulder pad that can be used for Flesh Tearers chapter. The Official GW Icon is a sawblade with a drop in the middle of it.

We had a prototype of the pad made up, but we cannot produce it for legal reasons (see picture below):

So since we cant use the GW official one, do Flesh Tearer players still want us to make one? IF so, what would you suggest we change?

Ideas I have thought of, half a blade (top half), multiple blood drops on the blade face, blood drops around the blade, etc.

Thanks and drawings help us a lot.

well, there are several ways to go for a "flesh render" chapter. You could either have some sort of saw blade look with blood, or a more literal ripped flesh with the blood drops in the middle.

Blood drops with the blade super imposed on the round portion?

Many blood drops making up the shape of a circular saw blade?

"Space saws" chapter with a circular saw symbol, where someone could combine your separate, and surprisingly well fitting blood drops to make their own flesh tearers?

What about a shoulder pad with torn pieces of skin covering most of it and a blood drop tatoo'd on it?

Centurion.

I always carry three magazines. One to get me to cover. One to put up a spirited defense. And one to get me to where I left my weapon.

I think we may do the crossed chainswords behind the sawblade and 3 drops like the banner (instead of below it)

why not just do the saw blade and leave the blood drop out of it? At that point it can be a saw blade, or a sun disk or something else that doesn't infringe on GW's imagery.

That's a pretty awesome idea, actually. Perhaps the "studio painted" one can be an angry sun with squiggly curls.

I got you guys

I think we will take it a step further...

We get tons of request for Dark Angel and Blood Angel pads. Obviously we cant cast a bad with those symbols on it....

We can make a pad with wings on it. A pad with a sawblade on it..

Then we design small water drop bits and dagger bits that can be used by players to decorate the shoulder pads how they wish, glue on whereever.

So if you buy the wings, you can buy the small blood drops or the daggers and use them how you want.
The drop and be combined with the sawblade or the dagger... We cant tell you what to do with them

On the other hand we can always just do a boring sawblade and leave it at that with no little addon bits!

Though the Blade would be cool to paint on numbers for squads as well.

Might also do little skulls, chalices, lightning bolts and generic reapers and sell it as a "bling pack". They'd look good elsewhere besides the pads.

I like the idea of the buzzsaw pads without blood drops. That way they can be used for other, home-grown chapters. The separate blood drop bits are a good idea too, but I'd probably just use decals on top of the buzzsaw pads. Maybe you could even sell little buzzsaw bits for people to glue on blank pads.

BTW that mockup looks like it's done on a metal pad. Aren't all the metal pads smaller than the plastics?

Thats our custom designed pad, the back detail is different but the dimensions are close to the GW current plastic pads. We did these so we can always have pads to sculpt on that arent GW recast like most people have to use.

I'd definitely support the mix and match model suggested here. More generic pads would be awesome.

As a personal request, can you guys do a simplified King's crown pad?

I think a generic saw blade is best, and safest. If you want to make tear-dropped shaped gems, that's good as well, as those can be used by eldar players as well.

Go with a generic circular saw blade. Maybe make it more like an actual saw blade than the generic "pointy circle" that GW uses? Those who really want to can sculpt their own drops from GS.

I agree on the plain sawblade idea.

Then as said, an extra pack with things like tear drops

Lets face it, how many BA / flesh players hate having to sculpt hundreds of tear drops?

also, if you made one big enough it would be possible to put it on the chest of power armour.

also as a request, any chance of a skull with crossed-bones behind it?

I think you mean serrated. A flechette is a needle or dart like projectile.

You are correct sir. If CH makes some shoulderpads with crossed serrated swords I will buy a bunch and start a new army.

Well I think we are going to take off the drop and most likely have them on the site seperately, they will be pretty cheap, but they are the rigth size to be able to be glued onto the chest piece of marines as well.

Double winner there.

Look for the Sawblade pad and seperate drops in Late December

Also we are working on icons for vehicles as well.

Double rain drops would be very handy since GW stopped making the double blood drop pads that certain Blood Angels Companies are supposed to use... But that said, with the C:BA supposed to come out next year, I'd imagine GW will revisit them (or change the fluff again!)

Considering all of the 'IT'S MINE' crap that GW has been slinging around lately, has anyone bothered to check out exactly how close to 'thier' design something has to be, before it is considered an infringement of thier IP? As a tattoo artist, I occasionally have run into situations similar to these over the years. It always comes down to it being/not being an EXACT duplicate of the original. The reason I bring this up is that if GW's fleshtearer symbol has, we'll say for the sake of argument, 10 little saw teeth and your's had say 11 or 12 little saw teeth, wouldn't that be enough of a difference for it NOT to be impeding into thier IP's?!?!

Dont quote me on this one, but i think the saw blades differ in teeth from image to image with GW.
I dont think they actually have a set amount in each.

Well I am absolutely positive that they can't own the intelectual property on every 'saw bladesque with blood droppies on it' design. You have to be very specific with that sort of stuff, both design-wise and color-wise.
