I've fallen into the curse of coming up with another army list before I even finish putting together my first.... sigh. Anyways, this is mostly because of the fact that I picked up the Daemonhunters Codex on an impulse the other day (I've liked the Inquisition ever since I read the Ravenor Omnibus), and I quickly fell under the thrall of the Grey Knights. I know this is probably a terrible idea for someone as new as I am to the hobby, but I figured I'd make up a 1500/2000 point list for laughs and put it up here, just to see how it turns out.
The armies at my FLGS seem to be mostly vanilla spess mehreens and IG; the SM seemed more heavily mechanized than the guard as far as I saw, but I've only been able to witness 2 or 3 games, so my knowledge is limited. Anyways, here're the lists. I've checked the math, and as far as I know it's correct, but if any mistakes are spotted, please make sure to point them out, I'd like to know that I'm doing it right, even if it's just for fun at this point.

1. You can't have 2 HQ Heroes. Need to run BC Stern and a Hero if you want that type of list.
2. Equip your PAGKs with either 2 psycannons or 2 incinerators. Don't mix. Either you want to use range to your advantage with shrouding. Or you want in CC.
3. Hunter Killer Missiles. Drop them all together. Not worth the points and your Dreads will get smoked in the first cpl rounds more than likely. Dreads should have TL Lascannons in a GK army.
4. Change your LR to a Crusader to escort your terminators around. Move 12 inches and you can still fire all your hurricane bolters + Machine Spirit.
5. Gear your terminators for CC. Drop psycannons for incinerators. They are meant to be in CC, gear them that way.

Smaller PAGK squad holds a rear objective or helps out wherever is needed most.

I'd argue for the GKTs with Psycannons. Terminator armor allows you to fire and move with a Heavy weapon, and with the Psycannon's second fire option, I'd say it's worth it. NFW+Psycannon is scary. I have a problem with no multi-wound pieces, like the GM. That's just me though. You don't usually mix and match Dreadnoughts and LRs in a pure GK list. You're either sitting back and shooting or assaulting like a madman, which begs the question, what are you doing with those squads? If you're assaulting in any form, you need more GK. 5 will be charged by a smart player and quickly overwhelmed. GK lose battles of attrition.

Went back and made a ton of changes. I'm looking to have a much more shooty army than HtH, and from browsing a few army lists/articles and whatnot, it seems like LRC's aren't really the way to go with GK. Got rid of the dreads, cause it seems like LR are the Heavy Support choice that works out the best for the most people.

K first the psycannon on the bro capt is 30pts not 25. Also TH/SS dont give GKTs the cool 2+/3+ just a 2+/4+ only in CC not evrything. GKTs are great bare bones dont under estimate the power of the storm bolter.
Hammerhand is a waste of points as well. I can guess that the reason for it is that no such thing as powerfists in the pure GK armies. if you really need it only take one TH/SS and no hammer hand cause its free. Points are few and far between in a GK army. Termies should always have psycannons. Take a Bro captian with a psycannons no bodyguard. Take an termie squad with one psycannon and then buy a psycannon for the bro capt of the squad. Put them together and you have 9 str 6 shots in one squad.
As for PAGK what i like to do is take 2 full squads on 10 with targeters and put them in a land raider and just sit and shoot till stuff gets too close jump out shoot the epic bolters and charge. You should be able to handle anything with 20 bolter shots and 21 attacks in CC 3 of which are power weapons. Maybe a smaller squad to save points. But psycannons on PAGK means you have a 50pt marine thats Fearless not worth it to me for something so fragile.
I agree with no hunter killers on anything ever. As far as the Land raiders IMO the godhammer is the best for GKs. Mainly cause GKs are not a CC army(read the article on tactics for GKs) they are a mild shooty army with some CC potential WS5 STR6 is awesome but it comes at 25pts a pop. So before you hit anything you wanna use the epic stormbolters and then own your targets with hits on 3's and wounds on 2's on most everything.
Crusaders are awesome kinda but you have 255pt tank transporting 300pts of termies or so. Almost 600pts that have to within 12" to be effective. There are a whole bunch of things that can kill a landraider within 24" let alone 12". Plus GK crusaders have fail assualt cannons 24" str 6 ap 4 heavy 3.
The list i have had some success with has been 2 landraiders (god hammer) 2 10 man squads of PAGK a termie sqaud as detailed above and Bro capt stern with a body guard.
Stern has been hit and miss so far but i really wanna keep the real force weapon in my army. The army is small but as long as you make the other person dance to your tune you should be fine.

I run pure GKs also & the above advice is good. Can't stress enough the need to put all your eggs in one basket; go all assault or all shooty though. In my experience, all shooty is much better, but either way the learning curve is STEEP on GKs. But the models look so cool, you just gotta keep trying.

Save some points on Psycannon bolts here too, not nearly as useful as the bolts on the PAGK squads. Part of the reason they're so good in squads is because of the AP4 they grant....heavy bolters already have that. Better off putting dozer blades on these raiders and/or simply saving the points for something more useful in the list, more PAGK, Holy Relic, another Terminator, Grand Master upgrade...something.

You need a third LR in this size army if you're going the LR route. You're WAY low on tank busting for a 2000 pt list. You'll need those extra two lascannons.

Ill have to agree with shane here.
With GK's you will want to be running as many landies as you can get hold of.
Its thier only reliable anti-tank they have. (dreads are too soft)
Also, it will help against armies that struggle against armour (orks) and allows you more viable tank shocks per game.
Which with landie spam you will be wanting to shock anything you can.

Pure Grey Knights with LR Spam:
Hug the table edges (corners preferably) Keep your distance and fire lascannons at heavy targets neutralising threats to your LR's first. At 3-4 feet away, its tough to kill a LR with anything but a railgun, and LR's outshoot Hammerheads.
Use targetters on PAGK's to assess range, maintain maximum ranges at all times to take as much advantage of "shrouding" as possible. Keep PAGK on board sides so that the majority of enemy army is more distant. Do not take PAGK's toward the army midfeild taking them "head on"...more units will be able to fire at them.
Keep terminators at just under 3' away from nearest target. This is psycannon range. This range also gives you just over a 50% effectiveness for "shrouding" to protect you from enemy fire.
Once a HtH element begins to become a threat (turn 3 or 4 if your plan is working out) get aboard your land raiders to protect your troops. By this time hopefully the only threat to your LR's may be HtH combat. If no LR is availiable...NEVER CHARGE WITH PAGK. Back up and shoot again. If you move forward, shoot, then charge, you may have just brought yourself 12 inches closer to other HtH elements of his army. Back up, recieve the charge (you dont get +1 for charging anyway) denying his charge bonus may have been nice, but it's not that great if he gets another unit into the combat with you for a whole slew of additional attacks on your precious Marines. Never help your opponent get into CC. Your objective is to shoot the enemy off of the board before he gets to you. If they DO get to CC, hopefully you've whittled his numbers enough that your WS 5 and your Nemesis weapons are enough to get him off of you.
Patience and distance. These are the two most important words to remember when playing Grey Knights.
