I'll be starting work on a good game/hobby table soon. I was working on some SketchUps and figured it would be good to get feedback on this as well. I figure a base table that is 4x6 with wings that can make it 8x6. Storage below for big terrain pieces. I've seen table that have a raceway-like a poker table, is that something that would be good to add? Or command stations on either side?

Are there panels that will cover the storage part?
im sure there will be spiders crawling in it

You want to recess the shelf end side (the 4' wide side) a few inches (4" - 6") so you don't bang your knees when you're on that side - plus, like a kitchen bench kickboard for your toes when you're standing next to it.

Also, there exists gate hinges that can create a rebate for the drop down sides to create the abovementioned recess along the 6' side when not full size.

Otherwise, I believe that it will work perfectly for you - neat design.

I don't plan on it, just because you can maximize storage if you don't have doors.

Here I've added a toe kick and made the table top more counter top with a 4" overhang.

An interesting idea for Command stations... foldaway shelves, like in kitchens for recipe book reading or slide out computer keyboard drawers

Just a thought... it's something that I'm thinking of

What are the sharp corners at the bottom for? ( the thing made by the part sticking out ) i always get injured by those
