Yup, the 3-model box is made up of the 3-part Marines originally released in the Battle For Macragge box and revamped for the Assault on Black Reach box.
The 5-man box is the regular multi-part Marine sprue.

The 3 man box marines are 3 parts.
Push on weapons, the backpacks and bodies.
While as said, the 5 man are simply half of the tac squad box without the upgrades sprue.
