im considering making up a wood elves list, and since the strength of the army seems to be in its shooting and mobility, i've designed a force that focuses on that, featuring alot of skirmish or fast moving shooters. thoughts?

Lord: highborn (145) with: “a pagent of shrikes” (25), the bow of loren (35) arcane bodkins (25) briarsheath (15), shield (3). elven steed (18), greatweapon (6) = 272

hero: Noble (75), with: elven steed (18), great weapon (4), light armor, (2), shield (2)
hunters talon (25), starfire arrows (25) =151

hero: spellsinger (90) with: lvl 2 (35), elven steed (12), calingaors stave, (25), deepwood sphere (25)
= 187

hero: spellsinger (90) with: lvl 2 (35), elven steed (12). divination orb (25), dispel scroll (25) = 187

Core units:
20 gladegaurd (240)
20 gladegaurd (240)
10 scouts (170)
10 scouts (170)
15 dryads (180)

10 Waywatchers (240)
10 waywatchers (240)

total = 2247

I have been thinking about a shooty wood elf army.
What do you think about the Twins? they can ride a great eagle to trim the cost down alittle.

Their special rules are really nice i think!
One can root enemy in place and one shoots exploding arrows , and they wont die unless one of them dies!

since i havent actually played with wood elves im not sure how they would do....i think thier points cost makes them a little iffy....and i think that they dont die unless both do in the same round. that could make them really nice....it would depend how good thier shooting attacks are i suppose.

I dont know either , but i know since they can move and shoot without penalty and they are at str 4 half range,
the twins that root the enemy unit in place can allow them to fire at close range effectively.

Few things here that could fix your list.

1: break the glade gaurd units of 20 into units of 10. you will get more arrows off a turn this way and there good in smaller units. Unless you have a hill on your side of the board it will be almost impossible for you to get all 20 shots off every turn.

2: you desperately need some close combat support for this army. I like the shooty aspect of wood elves but you need something to protect your archers. The dryads are a start. But you should look into investing in some wardancers or a unit of wild riders.

3: Those scout units are far to big. Usually they will die off the very first turn so I would have at most units of 5 This would save you some points.

4: drop the steeds. they will save you some points. Also drop the divination orb for another dispel scroll. You want as much magical protection as you can fit into your army. Id honestly consider dropping the noble for another spell singer just to get some more dispel dice. Wood elves are hurt the most by magic out of all army's.

Also luna the only unit in the army that gets str 4 at half range is the glade gaurd due to the glade gaurd long bow rule.

Never say die! Never surrender!

I agree with some of what the above posters have to say. Break up the glade guard units so you can fire more arrows and be a bit more flexible. Accepted practice in my area with a WE army is to run units of dryads no larger than 8 to 12. Lastly, I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that the treeman has a shooting attack as does the dragon your highborn can ride. I suggest one of each of these things.
