Steam Tanks are awesome because they have 10 Wounds.

They'll piss off Greater Daemons, lemme tell you.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

The Warstore and Wayland Games aren't as good as Maelstrom Games for Australians, because their 10-15% discount works out to like 40% off on average. I'm not too good at maths, but I can tell you that a $50 box cost be $33 and a $35 box cost me $22.

They also have fast and free international shipping.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I've found Wayland Games to be cheaper than Maelstrom (even when factoring in shipping for Wayland and free shipping for Maelstrom). Though I'd imagine that depends on your location in the world. Having said that, you should be able to get a solid force with the amount of funds you have saved.

I did say that Maelstrom is cheaper for Australians.

there is cheese. the most popular (here) is putting alot of points into a unit of knights, then filling it with the BSB and general or a Warrior perist and general, then keeping the unit back so the gun line scores you points and you denigh the enemy points. it can counterattack anything that gets to close or run from anything it doesnt want to handle.

the down side is the gun line slowly dies, the good side is you almost always score a 10/10 (which pisses off the Über hard tourney players, cause they cant make points off the list.)
still, and heres the great part, that same unit can rip apart unity fairly easily so if you dont wanna hang back feel free to gak stuff. so you know the price rings in around 1k points uses alot of shooters, cannon, crossbows, hand guns, outriders, steam tank, hell fire. a few units of infantry for misdirection and hold ups. spell caddy. and thats about it.

Another cheese list is 2 steam tanks and the popemobile (archlector on the waralter, VHS, 1+ save and maybe a magic weapon) as your base.

Yes, you picked the correct army if you wanted one that has drama/nerdrage-inducing choices. Such as:

Steam Tanks: the more the better, aim for 2.

The Arch Lector on a war altar with a speculum and whatever bling you want to give him.

And of course....Karl Franz on a Dragon

Don't do a gunline, if you want to piss people off by playing 40k in WHFB, play skaven.

Of course the above comment does not mean that you should not include two great cannons and use them to snipe other people's characters.

"But remember that there are over 1000 chapters of spase marienz! So the SM codex has to cover over 1000 different kinds of spase marienz! Codex CSM only has to cover 1 kind (the Chaos kind). And I don't even think Eldar are a kind of spase marienz at all. Hurr!"

It's a company which specialises in the selling of plastic representations of Elves, Goblins, and 9 foot tall superhuman soldiers from the future - have you ever considered that, as adults, it is US that is intruding upon THEIR world?

*sigh*

Because of the exchange rate, the discounts from Maelstrom are better for Australians.

Why do you think H.B.M.C. links to it all the time? Sure, maybe the Warstore is better for customers in the USA/Canada, but Maelstrom is the way to go for Aussies.

Ya but what makes Maelstrom especially different for exchange rates that other stores doesnt have? say Wayland Games

Empire are actually pretty easy to cheese out, although most Empire players will disagree with you because they really don't have any "elite" units. Best things though to cheese out an Empire list:

1. Archlector on War Altar - commonly called the popemobile, it makes you unbreakable, 4+ ward save, two bound spells from lore of light, impact hits and 2 bound spells from himself. Arm the archlector with the Speculum of Stat Swapping, +1 Str and always strikes first sword and the Shield of lose 1 attack and he's a monster. Not only can he challenge anything big and nasty and swap it's stats (byebye Bloodthirster), but even if its a normal unit champ or something he'll tie it up the rest of the game due to being unbreakable. Subsequent rounds - pulls off a cleansing flare (i.e. the nuke), makes a unit WS1, heals himself, rerolls to hit and wound - he's pretty bad ass. I personally disagree with the challenge rules of you can't touch him while he's in a challenge (Chaos Dragon Ogres hitting the side of the chariot can't hit him with those Str 7 GW), but he's almost mandatory now for tournament Empire players.

2. Steam Tanks - whats to say? Terror, impact hits, 10 wounds that you don't get half points for, 1+ AS, unbreakable, cannon shot, etc. etc. Not really worth anything after it loses about 5 wounds, but it's still incredible. Oh and magic without Str doesn't affect it - mmmmm total power on infernal gateway not having a Str value? So sorry.

3. Multiple great cannons. Can't go wrong with more artillery.

Good empire lists now seem to all lean towards gunlines - every bitches about dwarf gunlines, but when you throw in the popemobile, a steam tank or two, couple of cannons, unbreakable flagellants, outriders, handgunners, maybe a rocket or mortar or two - you'd be amazed at how much more shooting they can put out. Couple that with the number of unbreakable units they can field, I think Empire is much more of a shooty list than Dwarves.

I think the cheesiest EMpire list I played against was a 2 Stank with KFZ on a Dragon. I'm sure buddy had some cannons too.
