Walmart has a crap load of spray paints/primers.

I use Krylon White and Grey and Umber primers (actual primers, not just flats..they have more tooth without being super rough). I've heard good things about the 98 cent cans of primer/flat paints as well at Walmart.

Duplicoat/Duplicolor are also good primers and can be found at any major auto store.

I was recommended Duplicolor Sandable Primer, available from most auto parts stores [at least near where I live]
It's much, much cheaper than GW brand & has served me well for quite some time...

Really? I goto Canadian Tire and it's there in the paint isle, along with some other kinds of spray paint. The store here has a large selection of Krylon paints. I think it's like 5$ for a can or so. Next time you go there ask someone if they can direct you to the spraypaint isle and it should be there. Hope you find it

I've recently been using auto-body primer, flat black (but also comes in white, grey),works real well, better IMO than GW primer.
I get mine where I work (I'm in auto-body repair)but I'm sure you could find similiar products at any auto shop or at Wal-Mart.

To flake right off a mini and rub off as soon as you THINK of touching it.

This is what I use:

"Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Automotive Primer Spray"
http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=37

Good enough for your car, its good enough for your miniatures. I've found in Grey, Black, and White; and Rustoleum's website lists a flat red that I have yet to come across.

Really? You must have gotten a bad can or something, as I've never experienced that with any of Krylons paints.

Krylon is by far the best I've used, particularly the tan camo colour. I usually pick it up at Walmart for around $4-$5, can't remember the exact cost. I believe all their other colours are around the same price.

I also use flat black Krylon. It looks a little gloppy when it's wet but it dries perfectly.

Nice mate, how does it cover? Work just as well as higher priced spray paint?

Yup no loss of detail, dries quickly. I usually do 2 coats but thats just so i can get into all the cracks and crevaces. Never had a problem with it.

Unless you are painting an army with the majority of the model is Chaos Black, do not use GW primer. The primer matches perfectly to the paint but is over priced. You can go to Home Depot and Walmart and get a black and white primer called "Americas best" and it is $0.99 - $1.10 a can.

I use Krylon Black no-primer primer. Sounds weird, I know, but it's basically black spray paint that requires no priming (And I use it for priming). My friend and I swear by it, covers nicely and sticks like glue to plastic (And fingers, as I discovered the first time I used it...this is why I need to get a turntable or something to get the job done). About $5 at Wal-Mart, and it will last a looooooong time.
