Chaplain and terminators need troops to make a army. Also a chaplain is just a unit utility in HQ form. I would perhaps take a captain too.

The space marine codex is very good, space wolves is meant to be good too. If blood angels is coming out next year, then should be good like the others. Blood angels are a assault orientated army, like wolves.

My first advice would be don't build marines. But since you want marines, and they are a great army for beginners (3+ save is rather forgiving) go with the standard marine 'dex. The current incarnation of 40k is heavily vehicle based, so make sure you take things that can pop vehicles consistently, and take vehicles yourself. Drop pod assault is dang annoying and effective, as is rhino's.

Meh, marines are just small metal boxes riding in metal boxes sometimes riding in large metal boxes.

They all melt, is what I am saying.
