I run under the same name there as here. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and something I forgot to add. You get 150 gold a day. DO. NOT. waste it on things like ammo or consumables. It costs 250 gold to get a premium account for 24 hours. During that time you get 50% more XP and cash for every match. Do that, it'll help you work your way through the game that much faster.

It takes I think 17 days but if you save your gold that long you can get premium for the whole month, then for the rest of the month you can spend your gold doing things like upgrading crew members

I think the Marder II on the German side is one of the most fun tanks I've had the chance to play in the game. With its upgraded guns it can pop holes in just about anyone it comes across in its games while being quick. The Hetzer right after it is a steaming load. My suggestion is save enough transferable XP to research right through the Hetzer tree and into the StuG III which is as much fun as the Marder II.
I just started on the Russian side and the AT-1 was pretty fun in low tier games where that 57mm gun at its peak can shoot clean though most tanks in its matches. The transition to the SU-76 is a lot like the Hetzer.
The Marfer wasn't terrible, but I didn't really start having fun in the german TDs till I got the Stug upgraded. That thing is just a blast to drive. The JagdPz IV aftter it is pretty decent as well, although I've put the brakes on my TD advancement till I get my KT completely maxxed. Never tried the Russian TDs, however the ISU-152 has possibly the nastiest gun in the game. I still fear Ferdis and JagdTigers more though as they are much harder to knock out once you find them.

Well, I'm about to upgrade to the Marder II. I currently have my Panzerjager 1 fully upgraded, I usually get 2-5 kills a match if I don't die within the first two minutes. Automatically Appended Next Post: Though I am gonna stick with it until my crew's fully trained.

Tank hunting can be fun although I use a HE 122mm gun on my poor SU85. Hate that my normal gun does little to bigger tanks. I wonder if the SU100 will be able to use AP efficiently

You're very likely to have all the XP you need for the Hetzer long before you get your crew fully trained. I was in my Pz IV long enough to sink almost 40k XP into it and still didn't have a 100% crew when I finally mustered out into a VK3601. What you can do is research every tech in the Marder tree. At that point you can choose to stop getting experience and just train your crew faster. With the Marder that's an east decision as all it's techs are worth researching. I still own my Marder and play it one or two games a night.
I got my VK3601 this morning. Got through the Pz IV without that stupid fething schmalturm. I think I'm a better tanker because of it. The Pz IV with the standard turret and L48 gun doesn't let you just sit back and snipe all day long. You can start off popping off shots at long range but at some point you've got to mix it up. You really learn when to sit back and when to charge in when you're in that tank. You can't just point your tracks at the enemy and charge you've really go to think about what you're doing as you don't have the speed to dodge, the armor or HP to just take a shot, or the gun to shoot your way out of things. You have to think about everything you do and play smart.
That and the Pz IV with a schamlturm and L70 is the stupidest fething looking thing I've ever seen in this game. Die with some fething dignity.

I don't see it as all that different from the German. The only real difference is the difference between most German and Russian guns, once you get up over 75/76mm the Russians really go for most blast type weapons while the Germans focus on penetration.
From my limited experience I'd say German vs. Russian TD's is pretty much a wash.

You have to get all the russian TDs, its a straight line to upgrade them so you start small and keep upgrading. I have a SU85 fully upgraded and it's pretty good, but I'm looking forward to getting rid of it soon for the big one, then I'll train all the crew to 100 and give them all camo

You can't really avoid any of them persay. Same with the German TD line. The only way to avoid them is to save up enough transferable (gold star) experience to just buy the tank, do the research to get to the next one, then sell it off. If you're only playing your Tank Destroyers then there's not going to be anyway to avoid anything.

There are worse tanks to get stuck in for a while. I don't think I've had a single game in my T-34 where I didn't feel like I'd contributed in some way.

No, I love my T-34. The whole Russian medium line has been a lot of fun. I am trying to focus in though on my VK3601. I really want to get to the Tigers and I'm not gonna make it any time soon playing seven different tanks a night.

So far I've been able to do good with either arty or tank hunters, but I just suck with regular tanks (light/medium/heavy). I just don't have the proper head for it I guess, or maybe I'm just unlucky.

A lot of it depends on the tank. With starting out fairly fresh, it's tough as you'll often get dumped in over your head with the lower tier tanks. The biggest thing about driving tanks over TDs and arty is knowing when to be aggressive and when not to. It just takes time in the game and more specificly in the particular tank you are driving. Each tank has different styles of play that they work best with. German tanks tend to work best at range by wearing down the oppositon with precision shots, then moving in when the enemy line is weakened. Russian tanks are good at closing in and knife fighting. The American tanks seem to be set up for working in a hull down position and advancing by dashing from cover to cover. Of course these are just generalizations and there are plenty of exceptions.

Dunno, the best I've managed to do with medium tanks-- using my American M2 medium-- is by literally charging an enemy line from hiding inside of a village. I managed to get behind them and pop a couple tanks before being taken down, and if more of my teammates had joined me we'd have made abig impact I think.
But that's ambush tactics for you I guess.

Yeah, mediums work best with wolf pack tactics. Use the speed to surround and cut off the opposition. Make it difficult for them to focus on one target at a time. As they zero in on one tank, it dives behind terrain, then pops out again while the enemy is retargetting someone else.
That's an ideal situation of course. When you are in a random pug, all you can do is either follow another group of mediums that are working together, or hope that you get some mediums following you. If not, play it cautious and snipe until you see an opening. If it gets too hot, fall back to a safer position and maybe try another route in.

Yeah, that style will serve you well as in general, the best overall strategy for winning (if your team is almost entirely a pug) is to camp until you've got almost a 2-1 advantage, then push in for the kill. To be aggressive, you have to either have support you can rely on, or have a strong numbers or power advantage.
