by the way... you may now fly the riveers banner proudly!!!

and meade... that´s got to be the most indepth judging i have seen here... i can see how all the judging must ave left you spent and broken... but you are an artist... that´s probably a needful requirement to be still an awesome modler and painter as you already are

to all the others: it only worked so well this time because of you! to all entries... be proud about your work... !

cheers, vik

Thanks Vik, yes I am glad to have a break from judging!

The honor for the next contest goes to Hk1x1, so it's up to him to decide when to get on that... when he's ready

@OneManNoodles: Glad my judging notes helped, Noodles! Thanks again and for the record, if I wasn't completely fair-minded, my love for the Adeptus Mechanicus would have caused some bias on my part, your entry is still really awesome in my book

As the winner it has fallen to me to run the next contest, but don't panic, it wont start for a little while yet, as I think everyone would like to catch their breath before we start again.

In the meantime i'd love to hear everyone's ideas and suggestions for the next competition, I do have a few of my own but I want to hear what you think.
As it's you who will be spending your time building your new creations, and it helps if you have an interest in what it is your building.

So any ideas you may have let me know, And hopefully we can make The Terrain Competition # 7 as successful as the last .

well... I hope the lil breather will not take too long^^

as for ideas...

some, including me favoured a limitation comp... like taking a sheet of A4 Plasticcard and try to get a fully good looking terrain piece...

one other thing was some barricade or other scatter terrain...(like the famous nuka machine of dave?)

or...some chemical plant terrain?...

or make up a motto...like distilled boredom...

a pub...

or...like dave did in his first comp idea... try to name a piece of junk you want us all to build something with... like the lid competition...or the cookie competition...

Many congratulations hk1x1

As for some ideas for the next competition, i kinda like viks idea of using a piece junk we all have to use. If it has to be something i "need" , i still need to make a landingplatform and a flyer for my sisphus complex...wink, wink, nudge, nudge, hehe.

Take care

To suggest some popular, generic but fun themes that most people could fit into their terrain for whatever their doing... we haven't done bunkers or gun emplacements yet, that's always fun... Hills, Ruins, Roads (or perhaps bridges), Houses/dwellings, Factories,

Or you could have a theme such as post-apocalyptic, War-torn, pastoral, Ice or Fire, Magical, and then maybe just some generic size restrictions so that people could make whetever they dream up according to that theme.

Or of course you could go with something a bit more off the wall, which is risky in that it might discourage participation from practical point of view but might encourage others due to general insanity. Like a paper terrain comp for instance.

Thanks meade, some great ideas there. I particularly like the gun emplacement idea, making something that actually has a function on the battlefield, other than just providing troop cover.
A weapon platform that you can use in your games as part of your army, The new Aquila strong point comes to mind, but it doesn't have to be as big as that.

This also works well with another idea I had, and that's encouraging people to build something that doesn't belong to the Imperium of man, you could if you wanted to of course,
but it would be great to see gun emplacements from other race's, Eldar, Tau, Necron. Orks would probably be a fun one to build (just think of all those rivets ),
or for something more challenging what about Tyranids, a completely organic gun emplacement.

It would be a chance to use you imagination, and really think outside the box.
So let us know what you think, and we'll go from there .

hmm gun emplacement sounds interesting.

My suggestion would be a piece of terrain based on a phrase or word, like "War, war never changes."

I like vik's idea of a limitation competition.

your choice mate, no rush anyway

Gun emplacement is generic enough for anyone to build to match their army.

Congratulations to the winners! I've secretly following this thread like a secret ninja of secretness! All of the entries were really cool, I definitely don't envy the position of picking a winner.

I might throw my hat in for the next round and try my hand and riveting, I'll wait and see what the theme is first though before I decide.

Thanks for the congrats, It was a great Competition (thanks to Meade and everyone that entered) and I hope to see you at the next one .

I am throwing around ideas at the moment as to the next contests theme, an idea that has been put forward is Gun Emplacement's.
You can find more details in my last post above.

Yeh I saw that discussion and it sounds like it could be fun. I don't know enough to comment further to be honest, I'd be interested to know how big a Gun Emplacement would have to be. It sounds like too big a project for me to take on but that might not be the case. I'll keep an eye on the discussion to learn more about it.

Good to see you around here! BTW I was also readying something for the infinity competition too but sadly life got in the way for me to get my entry in on time I am now expanded into Infinity anyhow, it's quite addictive!

I've already had a few thumbs up for Gun Emplacements as a theme for the next contest, but I'm keen to know what everyone else thinks.

I also had a think about the finer details, and have come up with few more ideas.

I really want to make this contest a mixture of terrain building, and model making. As although the main theme is a gun emplacement this is first and foremost a terrain completion, so your entry should reflect this and be a balance of both, for example a Basilisk cannon behind a few sandbags is more model than terrain, but a Basilisk cannon in a fortified bunker built in to a cliff face is a far more interesting concept.

This contest will be open to everyone regardless of your skill level, if you don't think your paintings up to scratch, or your modelling abilities are less than perfect, don't worry, as what I'm looking for in this contest is Imagination and detail.
I want you to build something that I've never seen before, something that only exists in your mind.

And to make it even more original, how about a Xenos Gun emplacement, built by one of the many 40k alien races.
This wont be mandatory of course you can still build an imperial piece if you wish.

To finish of here's a few entry ideas of my own, feel free to use them if you wish.

The cannon of an old wrecked Titan, that's been repaired and made into a make shift artillery piece.

An Ancient Alien weapon, lost and buried for millions of years, is discovered and reactivated.

An Orbital Defence Cannon, stolen by another race, and overridden using their own technology.

These are just a few ideas, the possibilities are endless.

It does sound great! For me the issue would be time constraints, I have a lot on these days so I'd be pushed to work on something as large as a gun emplacement. Having said that I quite like the idea of challenging myself to accurately represent the theme in a small area.

Also, are rivets mandatory? I think some 40k races and other game systems(is that allowed?) would struggle to add rivets. Tau, Eldar, Tyranid, Infinity all spring to mind.
