Hi everyone, it's bloody cold outside so warm yourself on some Dwarves in outer spaaaaaaace.

Last 5 of the ion blaster squad done, I had some fun with OSL here, think it worked pretty well.

Tune in soon for some bikers, cheers!

Cheers Navarro, much appreciated!

Quick update here just to show the full squad.

Pretty pleased with how they've turned out. I figure I need to maybe change over the special weapons between the two squads though. But I'll figure that out later.

Got the bikers on the go currently, then I need to think about the Kahl. I've got a good idea planned in my head for the base, but I need to get sculpting!

Cheers for now.

Little update just in time for Hogswatch.

I wanted to make a little bauble for our Christmas tree and my wife is perhaps a bigger Discworld fan than me.

So what would be more fitting? Used the excellent Paul Kidby miniatures and some good old baking soda for the snow.

The 'bauble' is fantastic! What a great composition and the figure is, indeed, perfect. Very well done!

Great updates Olthannon. The dwarfs look spiffy with their OSL and pink grass! The bauble is super cool, a great addition to your tree!

Happy New Year everyone, hope you've all had a good time!

Thanks all for the kind words, glad you all liked it. I was particularly pleased with my Hogfather, he had pride of place on the tree.

So new update for the new year, Father Christmas brought me some Kharadron Overlords and converting them up to a new squad of Hearthkyn. I think of them as a unit of Kyn defending a small mine, more like a militia like the Fantasy dwarf warriors. I really like some of the bits from the Kharadron Overlords kit but I just hate them in Fantasy the comparison to them and the old Dwarf kits is awful. Great for this though!

Having to do a little cutting and chopping to get the arms at the right length but I love this part of the hobby. I couldn't resist making a "relic" L7 missile launcher out of the steam powered chaingun.

Cheers for now!

Hi everyone,

A little update on my converting. Got those Kharadron heads and putting them to good use. Original? Probably not but I like the look.

Here's the first one of the three, not sure about which weapon to choose but that can wait until I paint them.

Cheers for now.

Olthannon,

I have a little space marine ornament...but Mrs. Captain Brown makes certain it is always way up high and on the backside so it is not seen.

Just because it’s been done before, doesn’t mean it’s not a good thing! The head swaps are really cool, and yea the overlords are a bit of an odd fantasy army, but perfect bits for the votann. Can’t wait to see them blessed by your brush

Cheers both, I'm a fan of the new Votann and I the kits are pretty easy to convert up. They just needed a little extra Dwarfy.

Haha that's a shame she's not a fan, you'll have to sneakily move the marine round the front next year!

Thanks Ph34r! You reminded me I missed some shrubbery off my latest update!

So finally got some time yesterday to really do some painting. Started a new job and I have a rough commute at the minute so I've been much too knackered to do any hobby stuff. I've been trying to plug away at the Pioneers but it's a fiddly model to paint which isn't conducive to my motivation!

Think there's a few areas I want to touch up but happy enough for now!

Cheers for now.

Looks good. Like the things that make it float, using two different colours on them makes them stand out. Are his eyes just white? spooky.

Cheers PaddyMick! Yes, I've been trying to add strange little things to them just to make them look as inhuman as possible.. Purple hair and creepy eyes. I figure they are strange cloning things that fit into the lore.

Thanks all! Work and the commute is still all go, although I think I'm getting into a rhythm where I'm less tired. I need to find an alternative to coffee because otherwise that's all I'm living on!

I know I've got the Thunderkyn and the bikes and the other squad to be doing but hey, I go where the brain takes me.

I've spent a little time this morning going through some plogs and I'm so impressed with how much amazing work is out there. Everyone is rocking some amazing talent and it's given me some inspiration to get off my arse. So with that in mind I've joined the monthly painting challenge with my Kahl!

Took me a long time to decide what I wanted to do for the Kahl. He's the high heidyin (low?) so I wanted something special. Originally I was going to sculpt a dead Ork to the base but I was rummaging around in my bitz and found a mysterious genestraler. Not entirely sure where it came from but I chopped it to bits and recut it to fit on the base.

I'm pretty happy with it so I better get it sprayed and painted!

Cheers all, hope you have a good weekend.

Cheers Gobert!

Already popped these in the painting challenge thread but might as well go in the plog as well.

Some WiP shots of my Kahl. Got some paints today at my local GW so keen to carry on painting this evening.

Cheers all.

So I'm almost finished with the Kahl, he just needs a name really. I'm pretty happy with how the base turned out. I had to pop to my local GW last weekend to buy that neon paint because I wanted Predator blood for the genestealer!

I went for that colour scheme because I wanted something similar to the old blue and pink Tyranid scheme from a while ago. Plus it contrasted very nicely with the red of the Norhymbre Cooperative colours.

Let me know what you guys think, I want to do a bit more work but to be honest this is about the extent of my mediocre painting talent

The words "your talent" and "mediocre" do not belong in the same sentence- this is excellent work. The detail in the shadings and the highly complementary color scheme is executed to a high degree. Using so many colors runs the risk of presenting a chaotic kaleidoscope of disjointed, run-together impressions- this is a composite whole composed of painstakingly applied detail.

Rock on!

Reckon you should call it job done and a bloody good job at that. Haven't they got a rule where the kahl points and gives someone a judgement token? that's what he's doing. He should be called The Crimson Grudge Judge.
