If by chance I don’t head into the local GT with my chaos, which of these two lists would you go with?

List 1:

Khan
Chappy on bike.
Techmarine, Harness, Bike, Power weapon.
Techmarine, Harness, Bike, Power weapon.
Techmarine, Harness, Bike, Power weapon.
8 Bikers, 2 Melta, Fist, Hvy Bolter AB.
8 Bikers, 2 Melta, Fist, Hvy Bolter AB.
8 Bikers, 2 Flamers, Hvy Bolter AB.
3 Multi-Melta Attack Bikes.
3 Multi-Melta Attack Bikes.
3 Hvy Bolter Attack Bikes.

All IC’s join one biker squad and focus on offensive movement.

List 2:

Captain, Bike, Relic Blade, Storm Shield.
Libby, Bike, Null, Might.
10 Assault Terminators (7 TH/SS, 3 Claws)
8 Bikers, 2 Melta, Fist, Hvy Bolter AB.
8 Bikers, 2 Melta, Fist, Hvy Bolter AB.
8 Bikers, 2 Flamers, Hvy Bolter AB.
3 Multi-Melta Attack Bikes.
3 Multi-Melta Attack Bikes.
3 Hvy Bolter Attack Bikes.

Using the termies as a screen/counter attacker/area denial unit.

So basically it’s between a slogging Terminator unit to act as an anchor…or a more aggressive combat list with a strong, but it’s not really an uber combat unit as other more cost efficient options.

If I don’t finish this biker army I may just end up taking something like:
2 Princes with wings.
30 Plague marines in rhinos
6 oblits
+325 ish points left.

Thoughts?

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

for list one... why don't you just replace the 3 techmarines on bikes with a biker command squad? those techmarines must be at least 130 points each... 390 points would buy a hell of a lot of command squad.

5 marine command squad - 215 pts

4x lightning claws + stormshields = 120

4x melta guns + banner = 55 pts

total = 390...

I guarantee that squad, + chappy, will make a mess of anything. re-roll to hit and to wound with that many power weapon attacks = gg.

Well.
TM are not as durable, but:

Power weapon attacks coupled with the fist attacks sort of stack up with the Command Bike Lightning claws.
9 Str 9 attacks from the squad.
Then the extra plasmapistol/triple flamer templates.

I guess it's just for the lulz, I never really like the Command Squad on bikes to be honestly.

I would not say which is better though, they both have pros and cons.

I guess I like the 14 man squad... a huge footprint, something I do well with rather than poorly.

A hit and runnint 14 man conga line, INTO the enemy army. Multi-charging with multiple str 9 powerfists along the conga line.
The command squad concentrates the offensive and defensive values of the 14 man squad into a small package, which is (IMO) as good to being better (at least on the durability side).

But your suggestion is funny as that squad of yours that you suggested does find its way into my 'Ardboyz 2500 list.

You are right to be cautious about my suggestion for TM's...hence the reason I had a back up list that goes with none of them.
_____________

At least I get some brownie points for Biker TM's right?

I really like the look of that first list. Now I haven't played marines in a long while, but I face them often enough, so take my advice with a grain of salt. As much as I like list 1 I think the libby from list 2 would be better for psycher defense. Maybe a slight mix of the 2 lists would be best?
